5.31.16: Agnos’s mechanics are unchanged from earlier in the year and he still throws with a high effort delivery. His fastball sat 89-92 early, touching 93 once with plane and some late run. His velocity was still 88-89, touching 91 in the sixth inning, with a bit more movement. Curveball had its normal, hard, power 1/7 break, running 79-82. He was in the strike zone with both pitches.
3.15.16: Agnos has an athletic frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with an explosive, drop and drive delivery. His arm action is short and loose and he has a very quick armstroke, generating velocity with some effort. His shoulders are closed and slightly uphill as he strides out to a square landing before coming to an athletic finish as he recoils. Agnos’ fastball has added movement and angle since last fall, as it had some plane and late run to it. He touched 93 once on the day and worked from 90-92 in the first two innings 86-91 over the rest of his outing. He showed good command of the pitch, moving it in and out and pounding the strike zone at will. Agnos’ curveball had 1/7 action to it and ran 77-81. Early in the game the pitch had power break, as the game progressed it began to snap more. He showed the ability to throw it for strikes or out of the zone. Agnos threw one change-up that was 82 with a bit of run. Agnos dominated one of the better lineups he will face this spring, striking out 14 of the first 17 hitters he faced without allowing a baserunner, and ending the game with a 17 strikeout no-hitter while issuing three walks and hitting a batter.
3.19.15: Threw from a ¾ arm slot. From the full wind up, sat at 86-88 mph, touched 89. Fastball command was inconsistent. Missed arm side. Four seam FB was flat times. Two seam FB had some life and was 84-86. In the stretch was consistently 83-85 mph. Threw a tight 2/7 Breaking Ball at 70-75 mph. Had very good feel for the pitch. Able to throw with velocity for a strike out or as a get me over pitch. Showed a change up with some fade (74-75 mph).
11/8/2014: Agnos is an East Carolina University commit that stands 5-foot-11 and has an athletic frame. He is a drop and drive pitcher who throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a quick arm. He is smooth and stays on line throughout his delivery. Agnos’ fastball sat 84-85 and touched 86 with good late run on it. He showed a slurvey curveball that 70-72 and was very sharp when it started down in the zone. Agnos also demonstrated good feel of a change-up (76-78) with good arm speed and run. He did a good job of using all three pitches effectively in all counts.
3/26/19: A bit undersized, but strong and athletic at 5-foot-10, 200 pounds, Agnost ran his fastball up to 92 mph from a high three-quarter to near over-the-top slot during this six inning look. Pitched at 88-90 mph for the first four innings and finished the sixth working in the 86-88 range. Earned the W with six scoreless innings and was removed with a 4-0 lead after throwing 104 pitches. He currently ranks No. 57 in D1 Baseball's Starting Pitcher Power Rankings. Agnos throws with some effort and really rushes his lower half. Lands off balance, finishes hard to the third base side and doesn't produce much extension. However, his arm is lightning quick and this arm speed, combined with his athleticism, allowed him to catch up to his lower half and throw consistent strikes, especially with his feature pitch, a plus curveball. With fast arms, usually come good curveballs and his 74-78 mph downer curveball was a hammer at times. The fear of his buckler also allows his fastball to play up as both pitches are released from the same window generating much swing/miss. Prior to this spring, consistent strike-throwing ability was a large question mark for Agnos who had a career 5.0/9 IP walk rate. He has answered that bell thus far this season with a 2.7/9 IP walk rate and an outstanding 13.7/9 IP strikeout rate. Agnos is a rare lefty who consistently misses bats. Overall, he profiles best as a reliever at the higher levels in pro ball where his fastball should find more velocity in short stints as it did during a one-inning stint last summer for the USA CNT where he ran his fastball up to 95. Although the situational lefty may become extinct due to the new MLB minimum batters faced rule, Agnos would likely thrive in this role. (Seifert)
9/5/18: Aggressive, 5-foot-11, 200 pound lefty who throws from an over-the-top slot. Fastball ranged from 90-94 mph, touching 95 one time. Above average life, induced several swing/misses. Pitch played plus. Also threw an average-to-above downer curveball with late break at 78-79 mph. Very good hand speed. Repeated the pitch. Threw with effort and hid the ball for some deception. Due to his size and effort level he profiles as a pro reliever. However, I’m already looking forward to seeing him start this spring for an extended look. The ability to maintain his stuff and command for 100-plus pitches is the obvious telltale. He doesn’t need to look pretty doing it, he just needs to throw strikes and be consistent. With that in mind, a current lefty comparable is Alex Wood of the Los Angeles Dodgers, especially early in Wood’s career as a minor leaguer with the Braves. As a left-handed pitcher with a low-90s fastball and a repeatable breaking ball, Agnos’s ability to miss bats gives him potential as an early Day Two pick in 2019. (Jurik/Seifert)
6-27-2018: Quick, one inning look at an aggressive, 5-foot-11, 200 pound lefty who throws from a overhand slot. Fastball ranged from 90-94 mph, mostly 93. Above average life, induced several swing/misses. The pitch played plus. Also threw an average-to-above downer curveball at 78-79 mph with very good hand speed and the ability to repeat the pitch. Threw with effort and hid the ball for some deception. Struck out two of the four hitters he faced. As a left-handed pitcher with a low-90s fastball and a repeatable breaking ball, his ability to miss bats gives him potential as a Day Two pick in 2019. (Seifert)
