3.18.17: Barker has a strong athletic frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Short quick arm action with normal effort, shoulders closed and uphill and he sweeps to a square landing with an athletic finish. Fastball had some late run, sitting 83-86, touching 87. Change-up had fade and some armspeed at 71. Curveball had sharp late 11/5 action with good armspeed running 72-74.

9.29.16 - Recently de-committed and back on market. Over-the-top arm action with some head clearance. Clean arm swing. Strong mature body type that has limited projection. Tended to pull off his extension. Fastball sat 85-87. Slider 76-77 with short, darting action.  Slider had average movement.

5.27.16:  Barker has a lanky frame and throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. He has a loose, quick arm, generating velocity with normal effort. Shoulders are closed and uphill, square landing with a slight fall off. Fastball had slight late run, sitting 84-86. Curveball had late gradual 10/4 break, running 72-75. At the plate, Barker hits from the right side with an open stance. Leg kick stride and smooth load back. Short swing with above average bat speed. Line drive approach, works gap to gap.

Barker is 6-foot-0 tall and has an athletic frame. He is also a middle infielder and brings that athleticism with him to the mound. Barker throws from a high three-quarters slot and has a long, quick arm action that generates easy velocity. He has smooth mechanics and stays on line to his target. Barker’s fastball sat at 80 and touched 82 with slight run that he commanded well. He also threw a 12/6 curveball that he commanded well with late break.

Fall Top Prospect Games (UVA):  Barker is a 6-foot, 165 pound, two-way threat. At the plate, hits from a balanced/wide stance with high hands. Has a quiet rhythm, smooth load back, and balance throughout the swing. Has a line drive stroke that has the ability to lengthen out and become a gap-to-gap doubles type hitter. Had an 80 mph exit velocity off of the tee. In the field, Barker was a solid defender. Had a very solid glove with good actions, above average footwork, and was able to take good angles to the baseball.  Showed soft hands and an average arm strength with positional velocity of 76 mph.
