OF/RHP Easton Arendt (De Pere, 2024) made for another quality two-way look during Saturday’s event. To start his day, Arendt registered a 7.04 in the 60, which helps him easily cover ground while in the outfield, something we have seen from him multiple times in game as he patrols center field comfortably. Offensively, from the left-handed batter’s box, Arendt was all over the barrel during his round of BP, something that we have become accustomed to seeing from him over the years, and he recorded an average exit velocity of 86.8 mph, with his hardest coming off at 91.9 mph. He also showed some major promise on the mound during Saturday as he reached highs of 86.7 mph with his fastball and sat in the 85-86 mph range. He also showcased two offspeed weapons, the first being a late biting 11/5 breaking ball that he could land in the zone and the second a changeup with late fade/depth.

Arendt is one of the most athletic members of the state’s incoming junior class, complete with two-way abilities. While his future might ultimately be on the mound, Arendt is a legitimate center field defender with some of the best bat-to-ball skills in the state from the left-handed batter’s box. Still, he possesses a quality fastball that projects especially well, as a high-spin offering measured in the mid-80s here. He reached an 85.6 mph high at an average spin rate of 2,145 rpm, featuring carry through the zone. Arendt’s short curveball, 70-72 mph, also spins at an above-average rate, and his general athleticism grants him some genuine promise from the mound – but don’t count out his skills as a position player, either.

The 5-foot-11, 160-pound lean and wiry sophomore showed line-drive feel in BP, maintaining a level plane through the zone to contact. Arendt displayed above-average arm strength for his age by recording one of the day’s hardest throws home from the outfield, peaking at 87 mph during his workout. That quick arm translated to the mound, as he worked both corners of the plate with an 83-84 mph fastball, and there’s more untapped potential in the tank, too. Arendt threw his changeup at arm speed down in the zone and he threw his breaking ball for strikes – a pitch that flashed sharp spin off an 11/5 plane with depth and all-around feel. Arendt’s improvement in all areas of his game cemented him as a winner from this event.
