+ INF Eduardo Saucedo (Oregon HS, WI) walked off Mariners Midwest Scout Team on Friday night, a game in which GRB Rays Green struggled to string together baserunners. Rays were down 2-1 headed into the bottom of the seventh when, with a runner on third and two down, junior Carson Shepard chopped a ball in front of home and beat it out to tie it up. Shepard did his thing, stealing second as soon as he could, which allowed Saucedo to be the hero. He fended off a couple tough pitches and eventually redirected a breaking ball left up in the zone into shallow center field and that was just enough to allow the heads-up Shepard to make it all the way home for the come-from-behind walk-off win. Saucedo is a top-40-ranked prospect in Wisconsin’s 2020 class and still uncommitted.

Hit: LHH. Open stance, smooth load, stride is short. Maintains balance through contact. Easy swing, spay line drive hitter, path is short to the baseball, feel for the barrel.

Arm: RH. INF - 82 mph. Short and loose arm action, throws from an over the top slot, showed carry.
Defense: Sure handed, fluid footwork. Fields the ball out front, plays through the baseball, tall at times.

7/14/17 - 5-foot-8, 135-pound, wiry, two-way prospect. Left-handed hitter, open, tall setup, calm and comfortable demeanor in the box. Loose swing, bat stays through the hitting zone. Also, came into pitch in relief. Right-handed pitcher, clean, athletic arm action, repeats well. Fastball sat 72-74 mph. Mixed in a breaking ball at 55 mph.

3/11/18 - 6-foot, 145-pound left-handed hitting two-way player, athletic build. Hits from a tall setup, toe tap to long stride, in rhythm and on time. Shows feel for the barrel, loose hands create bat speed, spray approach. 80 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed soft hands and actions, athletic defender plays through the baseball, funnels to release. Arm is short and over the top, accurate across, 79 mph. 7.97 runner in the 60. Three pitch feel on the mound quick arm, regular effort out of high ¾ slot, delivery is athletic and dynamic. Fastball is mostly straight, showed control of the zone, 78-79 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, drops for strikes, near fastball arm speed, 62-64 mph with conviction. Straight changeup has above average feel, 71-74 mph.
