8/3/16 - Verabally commits to Creighton.

6/16/16 - 6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher, athletically strong frame. Hits from a balanced stance, smooth loading action, short stride, maintains excellent balance, quiet eyes. Easy bat speed, strong hands, barrel aware, hard contact in BP. Path has some length, gets to contact quickly, strong bat with extension, gap to gap approach. 87 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed big arm strength from the crouch, 81 mph, tends to get underneath, misses were up and arm side, arm carries. Pop times ranged 2.04-2.09. 7.1 runner in the 60. 
7/31/15 - 6-foot, 175-pound, right-handed hitting catcher with a lanky frame. Offensively hits from a balanced, slightly open stance. Smooth load with a smooth uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.51. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Quick transfer, with a slower release in workouts. Popped 2.16-2.22 and threw 76 mph from the crouch. In game popped a 2.00 to nail a would be base stealer at second. In games went 1-5 with a triple to deep right center field, and a hit by pitch.
6.24.15 - 6-foot, 170-pound athletic catcher. Offensively hits from right side with open and wide stance, short stride, good balance, quick bat speed, uphill path, line drive gap-to-gap type, and fluid rhythm. Exit velo 85 mph. Defensively the right-hander has long arm action from over-the-top, with some carry on ball. Showed soft hands, fluid footwork, and is athletic in the field. Threw 74 mph from crouch and pop times ranged 2.17-2.22. Ran 7.82 60.
2/8/15 - 5-foot-11, 165-pound catcher, athletic frame, lean build. Defensively arm played at 74 mph out of the crouch, short over the top arm action, works slightly uphill. Recorded 2.01-2.19 pop times. Solid blocking the baseball, overall strong defensive catcher. Right-handed hitter, tall open setup, short stride, lower half works well, good balance. Violent swing, attacks baseball, swing creates whip, good bat speed present. Path is short to the baseball, some extension, fluid hitter. Ran the 60 a 7.63.
7/14/14 - Lanky frame with athletic build, lean with room to fill, 5-foot-11, 160-pound catcher, projectable frame. Offensively hits from a slightly open stance, athletic setup, smooth loading action, short stride. Above average bat speed, tends to lift, showed pop to both gaps, impact the ball with authority, 85 mph exit velocity from the tee. Hands are loose and generates excellent bat speed. Defensively showed arm strength, 72 mph out of the crouch, short over the top slot, occasionally worked uphill. Athletic setup, 2.09-2.11 pop times. 

2/9/14 - 5-foot-10, 150-pound catcher, lanky build, projectable frame. Offensively hits with a slightly open stance, short stride, excellent setup, maintains solid balance. Athletic swinger, loose hands, works well, makes hard contact. Generates above average bat speed for age, still has room for strength. Short path with line drive tendencies. Behind the dish posted 2.22-2.26 pop times. Over the top arm slot, occasionally long arm action, 73 mph arm strength from the crouch. Mechanically sound blocking skills. Gilbert has the ability and tools to be a high level catcher. His approach at the plate projects well and has a high ceiling.

6-19-2018: Sophomore, R/R, Catcher, Lakeshore (Creighton) – 6-foot, 190 pounds. Young athletic frame with room to grow. At the plate he sported a balanced athletic stance with a small leg lift with an even stride. Average bat speed. Struggled in the box, didn’t make solid contact. Talented behind the dish. A natural with soft hands while receiving and a plus arm. Looks very comfortable back there. Threw out one runner on the day, while going 0-3 with a K at the plate. (Jake Stone)
