Taschner continues to cement himself as a high-end arm in the state’s incoming senior class. Built at an ultra-physical 6-foot-3, 215-pounds, Taschner attacked hitters all game long at our PBR Badger State Battle, with an aggressive, heavy fastball that started at 89-91 mph, dialing down into the 86-88 mph range as his start went on. Taschner finished his outing in five innings, striking out 10 and helping his team to a 7-2 win.

Positional Profile: RHP/1B; Increasingly the top uncommitted junior pitcher in the state.
Body: 6-3, 235-pounds. Physically imposing stature; broad shoulders.
Delivery: Easy effort tall/fall type pitcher. Relaxed motion with sound mechanics. Good control at balance point. Smooth rhythm. Level shoulders, stays in line. Lands square and finishes in an athletic position.
Arm Action: R/R. High 3/4 arm angle. Quick arm speed with a short and loose, whippy action.
FB: T90, 88-90 mph. Straight action FB. Big carry and jump out of the hand. T2157, 2074 average rpm.
CB: 73-75 mph. Flashed 12/6 shape. Some downer action. Low spin. T1860, 1804 average rpm.
CH: 77-80 mph. Thrown at FB arm speed. Plus pitch with late ASR action. Spots up nicely.  T1961, 1868 average rpm.

6-foot-3, 205 pounds; powerful, strong, durable prospect with some huge upside in the state’s 2022 class. Taschner relieved Dobberstein on Saturday night and, like his teammate, came out hot to open his outing, sitting at a casual 82-85 mph but he reached back for an 87 or 88 when he needed to on multiple occasions, especially in two-strike counts. He throws an aggressive curveball, true 12/6 with sharp/late action (73-75 mph), though it can get a little inconsistent he’s relatively new to throwing the pitch. The ease in which Taschner operates suggests he’s in possession of some of the 2022 class’ biggest upside and ceiling. He K’d six in two without allowing a hit or run, and he walked just one.

Fast bat speed, level bat path with extension through the ball, gap-to-gap type. In gameplay against Top Tier North, hit a long home run to left-center field that cleared the tall wall on Fenway by plenty, also added two walks to his line as well. He’s also a high-follow arm in the state’s 2022 class who we have seen a couple times recently, at both the Badger State Battle as well as this past Monday at our invite-only Underclass Games event in Chicago.
