4/05/24
Projectable 6-foot-3, 177-pound frame with more room to fill out as he matures. In an outing heavily attended by over a dozen pro scouts, DeTienne tossed three no-hit innings striking out eight batters with scattered command of his fastball. Even with the command issues in this look, DeTienne was still able to generate a number of swings-and-misses on the fastball alone, running it up to 94 mph and sitting 90-94 throughout with carry through the zone. Looking forward, his fastball projects to get better as he matures physically as it already is one of the better pitches in the region on stuff alone. DeTienne didn’t throw many offspeed pitches in this look but he did show a low-to-mid-80s breaking ball early. One of the top arms in the nation, DeTienne has a history of performing on the national stage and will be one to follow closely heading into the Draft this summer.

Prep Baseball All-American Game: A high-effort delivery with tight arm circle and a deceptive, over-the-top slot that can overwhelm hitters with electric arm speed, albeit lacking some ability to repeat. Fastball has impressive metrics, sitting a high-spin 92-94 with big-time hop that averages 18 inches of induced vertical break (Max 20.7) and will miss a ton of bats. Feel for a 79-81 hammer curveball is present with ability to create depth while holding 11/5 shape. Presently a two-pitch mix with high effort can lead to reliever risk, but the athleticism and projection in the frame can offer a higher ceiling as he develops.

Positional Profile: RHP/SS
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Athletic build with projection.
Delivery: High leg lift, slight coil, long stride, toe slightly closed at landing.
Arm Action: RH. Long, loose, quick arm, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T91, 90-91 mph. Arm-side run, firm, life out of hand. T2122, 2057 average rpm.
CB: 76-78 mph. 12/6 shape, tight spin, finds at the bottom of the zone. T2702, 2574 average rpm.
CH: 83-84 mph. Arm-side run, thrown with fastball intent, locates low. T1494, 1411 average rpm.

3/12/23

RHP Jack DeTienne (Verona Area, 2024; Xavier commit) continues to establish himself as one of the top pitchers in the state’s 2024 class, currently slated at No. 7. A member of Team Wisconsin at the PBR Future Games this past summer, DeTienne showed really well this past Sunday at GRB Academy. Listed at an athletic 6-foot-1, 175-pounds, he showed a loose, quick arm with a fastball that sat 90-91 mph (91.3 mph max) with arm-side run and carry through the zone. He showed an advanced feel for both of his offspeed pitches. His curveball showed 12/6 shape with tight, quality spin (2,573 spin rate avg.), and a changeup that was thrown with fastball intent with arm-side run and clear deceleration as it entered the bottom half of the zone.

Few players did more this summer to elevate his prospect stock more than Verona’s Jack DeTienne. DeTienne is a 6-foot-1, 160-pound is another prospect on this list who participated at the PBR Future Games as part of Team Wisconsin, and he created some of the team’s loudest buzz by living in the upper-80s, touching 90 mph multiple times. DeTienne also spins a biting curveball aggressively and mixes in a sinking changeup that complements the fastball very well. More importantly, he was lockdown at LakePoint, earning four outs on a breezy 11 pitches in his first outing and he authored another scoreless frame in his second. Per ProPlayAI technology, DeTienne generates tremendous force and velocity with his lead leg, signaling big velocity potential in his future – and the lean and wiry right-hander is already scraping the low-90s. He has the electric combination of a swing-and-miss mix at present, as well as some indicators that suggest he’s just beginning to break out.

7/16/22

DeTienne is built at an projectable 6-foot-1, 185 pounds earned GRB Rays Green a win due to his efforts while on the mound. DeTienne is an athletic mover while working downhill and couples it with some pretty impressive arm speed. In the first inning, DeTienne reached highs of 89 mph with his fastball but as the game progressed he settled in at 84-86 mph. As for his offspeeds, he spun a hard thrown breaking ball that earned multiple swings and misses, he also showed feel for a changeup with late fade that was thrown for strikes. DeTienne is another name who will be coming down to LakePoint to represent Team Wisconsin during the PBR Future Games later this month.

3/13/22

Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 6-0, 155-pounds. High-waisted build, plenty of room  for added strength.
Delivery: Starts on the left side of the mound, deliberate tall and fall delivery, long stride to home, lands squared.

Run: 7.34 runner in the 60.

3/13/22

DeTienne stands at 6-foot, 155 pounds, with room to grow. Working from the left side of the mound with a tall/fall style delivery, a long stride to home, and delivering from a clean ¾ slot, DeTienne offers a three-pitch mix with some upside. The fastball worked up to 87 mph, spinning at 2,000 rpm on average, featuring carry traits while measuring 19 inches of induced vertical break as well as natural arm-side run. The curveball spins at 2,200 rpm with effective vertical action that he showed the confidence to regularly land at the bottom and beneath the zone. DeTienne’s changeup, 78-79 mph, is a viable third pitch that runs/sinks hard, completing a high-follow mix here for a player only just growing into his physique
