Gellings has shown on several occasions that he’s a strong, athletic prospect in the state’s 2022 class, and he did so again on Sunday. His right-handed bat generates fast hand speed (24.5 mph on average, per Blast) and bat speed (71.2 mph on average) which produces hard-hit contact on repeat. Gellings’ confident demeanor in the box is notable, as he has an advanced feel for the barrel inside a rhythmic and balanced swing. He averaged an exit speed of 87.3 mph and recorded a 97.2 max at the MOSH.

5-foot-10, 188 pounds; sturdy/strong athlete. A ‘22 prospect who keeps enhancing his prospect stock as the summer rolls on. Efficient and reliable actions, defensively, on the left side of the infield. May fit best at third base long-term, but he’s currently a strong defender at shortstop. Smooth hands, funnels fluidly through exchange, plays well on the go. Right-handed bat, barrel feel with advanced strength on contact, uses both gaps. Also was up to 83 mph on the mound.

Gellings had a solid afternoon session for CBT at Waunakee High School. The three-hole hitter reached base all three times he came to the plate in a run-ruled shortened game. Gellings hit a two-run home run over the left center field wall that showed plus carry off the bat. He collected another RBI in his next at bat with a double to centerfield. He also showed well behind the plate throwing out a base stealer with a 2.24 pop time.

5-foot-8, 155-pound athletic/sturdy frame, durable lower half, right/right prospect. Sets up balanced/tall, open stance, smooth load back into simple toe-tap stride even. Path is short and level, athletic and loose hands help generate bat speed, above-average barrel feel. Has a tendency to get on top of the ball, but was able to barrel up line drives throughout the tournament, too. He’s also an athletic defender who fields in rhythm with above-average arm strength.
