Lippe

Lippe remains one of the top prospects in the Midwest, and a name area scouts have circled ahead of the 2022 MLB Draft. The physical 6-foot-2, 220-pound athlete has defined strength in his upper and lower halves, though he’s still an explosive runner, having clocked in at a 6.77 in the 60-yard dash on Sunday. Offensively, Lippe generates easy, advanced bat and hand speed scores, measured at 77.0 and 25.5 mph on average, respectively, according to the Blast sensor, both of which were either at or near the top of the event leaderboards. He also hit a pair of the event’s hardest batted balls, and was the only batter to record several 99-plus mph exit speeds. Lippe’s physicality and foot speed seamlessly translate to the outfield, where he flows to the baseball in rhythm and confidence – and he reached a 98 mph high throw to home, tying for the event’s lead.

Body: 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. Strong physical build, broad shoulders, advanced strength.
Hit: RHH. Slight open setup at the back of the box, hands start comfortable and load back and above the baseball. Explosive bat speed created by strength and athleticism, path is quick to the baseball. Showed feel for the barrel, ball jumped off the bat, plus exit velocity off the bat.
Power: 92 mph exit velocity from the tee. Gap to gap power bat.
Arm: RH. OF - 95 mph. Plus arm, carries well, long high 3/4 arm action, showed ability to play accurately.
Defense: CF/RF projection, quick footwork attacks the baseball, plays through in stride with conviction.
Run: 6.88 runner in the 60. Plus runner for age.

 Lippe is a physical specimen and uses the basepaths like an SEC running back would. He’s strong, fast, and packs a punch from the right-handed batter’s box, favoring the right-center gap.

Hit: RHH. Balanced stance, minimal load, short stride, maintains strong balance through contact. Short path, line drive gap to gap contact, quick hands with strength. Creates bat speed with intent.

Arm: RH. OF - 89 mph. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot, arm carries well, advanced arm strength.
Defense: Athletic actions, plays from all three OF spots, clean exchange, works through the baseball in stride.
Run: 4.47 runner down the line. Athletic gait, above average baserunner.

Louisville commit. Strong right-handed hitting outfielder. Lippe’s reputation as one of the country’s top athletes and bats precedes him. He produces a different sound off the bat. He tacked on another three barrels that went for singles today and is a plus runner with a strong, proportional build. His bat was one several standout on the weekend, gets easy exit velocity off the barrel, middle of the field approach..

Arm: RH. OF - 86 mph. Arm carries, over the top slot, played accurate, short loose action.
Defense: Natural actions, fluid footwork, plays aggressively through the baseball. Projects in any outfield position.

8/5/18 (Junior Future Games) - 6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder, strong athletic build. Advanced approach in the box, barrel aware gap to gap line drive approach. Will hit where he is pitched, made some of the hardest in game contacts of the weekend. Moves well around the bases, above average runner, 7.08 in the 60, could project in centerfield. Arm flashes carry, well above average for his age.

6/20/18 - 6-foot, 170-pound, strong, athletic-build, right-handed outfielder and corner infielder, projectable frame. Offensively, balanced, reverse toe-tap stride, maintains good balance. Gap-to-gap type hitter, long barrel path through zone, fluid rhythm, 91 mph exit velocity off a tee. Ran a 7.23 laser-timed 60. Defensively, in the outfield, long, loose arm action, kept throws on target, 77 mph. On the infield, similar arm action, 74 mph across. Plays through the ball, athletic actions.

3.20.18 - 6-foot, 160-pound two-way player, lean athletic shape, broad squared shoulders. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, slight leg lift stride. Hard contact in BP, above average bat speed, short finish at times. Defensively plays in stride with quick footwork, hands play, exchanges into crowhop. Over the top arm, carries on line, 77 mph from the outfield. 7.32 runner in the 60. On the mound fastball gets downhill and show tilt, 73-75 mph, topped at 76 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 66-68 mph.

3.15.17 - 5-foot-9, 135-pound, two-way prospect. Defensively, short arm action from over-the-top slot, 69 mph across the infield. Plays through the ball, soft hands, fluid footwork. Offensively, balanced setup, short stride, maintains balance, long, level barrel path, 78 mph exit velocity. Ran a 7.73 60. On the mound, high ¾ arm slot, short arm action, regular effort. Tall and fall delivery, works on-line, lands toe-closed, finishes falling off first base side. Fastball, straight, sat 67-69 mph. Curveball, downward shape, loose action, 60 mph. Changeup, flashed sink, 62-63 mph.
