Stein arguably had one of the better high school seasons in the northwest portion of the Badger State this past spring, as this was the first time our staff saw his offensive skill set in live action. The right-handed hitter impressed right away, tripling to the right-center gap to drive in a run for MN Blizzard Black. Because of his physical 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame, Stein naturally produces loud contact with ease, something his opponents consistently had to prepare for in these past couple of months. Stein’s stock continues to rise as a batter, as his showing on night one at The Rock was a noteworthy one.
Positional Profile: 1B/RHP
Body: 6-2, 230-pounds. Physical, strong, more fill coming.
Delivery: Medium tempo, low leg lift, slightly closed land, medium leg swing finish to home.
Arm Action: RH. Medium arc, up on time, 3/4 slot, repeats, quick arm.
FB: T81, 79-81 mph. Fills the zone, late cut. T1888, 1756 average rpm.
SL: 69-70 mph. Lateral sweep, can land, flashes lateness to the break. T1844, 1785 average rpm.
CH: 71-73 mph. Quality arm speed, can land, flashes depth and fade. T1538, 1370 average rpm.

Hits: RHH. Stock setup with high back elbow. Small press back into back leg, controlled rhythmic move to hitting position, lands centered, flat quick direct path some loft, drive the ball to both gaps.

Arm: RH. INF-73 mph.Low 3/4 slot, accurate, feel for the ball.
Defense: Feet work around the bag, quality actions.

1B/RHP Sawyer Stein (Eau Claire Memorial, 2024) was responsible for arguably the most consistent round of BP. Standing at a physical 6-foot-2, 230-pounds, Stein registered a highest average EV of the day at 90.2 mph, with his hardest coming off the bat at 94.2 mph. On the mound, Stein works with rhythm and features repeatable mechanics. During his ‘pen he ran his fastball up to 81.5 mph from a three-quarter slot to go along with a sweeping slider and a changeup, both of which he was able to throw in the zone.

Body: 6-1, 220-pounds. Evenly distributed weight.
Delivery: Compact delivery with some effort, works directionally with home with an athletic finish.
Arm Action: RH.
FB: T80.8, 76.8-79.8 mph. Four-seam type, firm, clean out of the hand. T1936, 1810 average rpm.
CB: 67.5-69.0 mph. Gradual breaking 11/5, flashes depth at times. T1863, 1814 average rpm.
