2/28/16 - Oklahoma State commit. 6-foot, 183-pound left-handed pitcher, average build, premium left handed arm. Tall and fall delivery, closed front side, works slightly across his body, finishes third base side. Advanced arm speed, high ¾ slot, clean action, comes out of tight window near head, some deception. Fastball showed life, 85-87 mph, late action through the zone. Curveball has 1/7 shape, occasionally 12/6, 67-71 mph, swing and miss type action. Changeup has good feel, 77-80 mph, stays down in the zone. High level left-handed pitcher.

9/29/15 - Verbally committed to Oklahoma State

7/31/15 - Hickey is 6-foot, 180-pound left-handed pitcher with an average frame and build that has slight projection. His delivery is clean and repeatable while working slightly across his body, creating tough angles when going glove side. Hickey’s arm action makes him deceptive, its a short quick over the top slot that hides ball well. Opponents’ at bats is what separated Hickey from the rest.  His fastball was sneaky quick at 83-85 mph, getting on hitters quicker than the velocity suggests. He got more late swings and swing and misses with his fastball in game play than most of the 90 mph arms in attendance. His curveball has downward action on a 1/7 plane, occasionally getting 12/6 action. It showed good depth and feel at 71-72 mph, a good compliment to his fastball. Hickey showed swing and miss stuff in his two innings of work striking out four hitters and allowing just one hit.

2/8/15 - 6-foot, 180-pound left-handed throwing two-way player, medium frame, solid build. Tall and fall delivery, slight effort, in rhythm, finishes to third base side. Arm action is clean, short/loose, high ¾ slot, deceptive out of hand, hides it some. Fastball showed occasional boring action, sat at 83 mph, touched 85 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, occasionally steeper action, 68-72 mph, flashed good action and command. Changeup flashed slight arm side run, 72-73 mph. Projects well on the mound. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride, simple setup, lets hands work. Good path, short to the ball with extension, line drive gap to gap approach. 80 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed arm strength from the outfield, 85 mph, over the top slot and accurate, showed carry, kept on line, arm played well. Showed the ability to play through the baseball, ran a 7.23 in the 60.

2/9/14 - 5-foot-11, 160-pound left handed throwing two-way player. Above average projectability on the mound, slower tempo delivery, tall and fall approach, minimal effort. Arm operates from a high ¾ slot, loose arm action. Fastball is mostly straight, flashed occasional cut action, showed control of the zone, 73-75 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, showed feel, tends to get on the side, showed better feel for it out of the stretch, 62-63 mph. Changeup has fading action, 66-68 mph, also showed control, pitch has excellent potential. Offensively hits out of an open stance, short leg kick stride, high elbow load. 76 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively plays through the baseball well from the outfield, arm shows carry, topped out at 80 mph, loose over the top arm action. 4.33 runner down the line. Currently Hickey’s left handed arm and athleticism are his best attributes and project well.

10/1/2018

6-foot, 183-pound, left-handed pitcher. Was one of the more intriguing arms in attendance. Loose, quick, lively arm. Ball comes out the easy, jumps through the zone. Fastball, late run action, sat 86-88 mph, touched 89. Curveball, sharp, late action at times, 1/7 shape, 71-76 mph. Changeup had power action at times, arm-side-run, 82-85. Struck out 15 in 11.1 innings pitched last spring. High-follow left-handed pitcher.
