Vierling is another Wisconsin native who’s committed to Louisville. The sturdy/strong left-handed-hitting catcher has a bat fit for the middle of any kind of order, and his arm strength out of the crouch (reaching an 80 mph high) helped him pop in the low-2.00s consistently, including a 1.97 low.

Hit: LHH. Tall setup, slightly open stance, short in rhythm leg lift, relaxed hands. Well above average bat speed, hands are loose and showed off pull side pop, athletic hitter with feel for the barrel.
Power: 96.93 max exit velocity, averaged 88.19 mph. 299’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 80 mph. INF - mph. OF - mph. Above average arm strength, short over the top action, quick release, showed accuracy.
Defense: 1.97-2.08 pop times. Athletic actions, hands play soft and quick, advanced catch and throw.

+ C Will Vierling (Homestead, WI; Louisville commit) is gaining a reputation as one of the best left-handed bats in the Midwest and that held true at Grand Park this weekend. He’s wielding some of the top pop potential in the state, which the PBR Wisconsin staff has seen first-hand this summer. In Westfield, Vierling showed off his smooth lefty cut by barreling baseballs into both gaps. He’s a sturdy bat-first backstop with a frame that’s only enhancing his offensive ceiling.
Positional Profile: C - One of the top left-handed hitters in WI 2022 class.
Body: 6-foot-0, 170-pounds. Solid build, strong throughout, durable lower half.
Hit: LHH. Tall setup, balanced stance, short stride, on time, excellent balance throughout. Easy swing, quiet at the plate with simple bat speed. Path is short, line drive gap to gap approach.
Power: 85 mph exit velocity from the tee. Above average power, jumps off the bat, pull side power bat.
Arm: RH. C - 75 mph. Loose arm action plays clean and efficient, high 3/4 slot.
Defense: 2.12-2.19 pop times. Hands played soft, clean exchange. Strong, athletic blocking skills.
Run: 4.95 runner down the line.
5-foot-11, 170-pound left-handed hitting catcher who batted fourth in the lineup for Hitters on Thursday against STiKS-Black. Athletic, projectable frame. Has a balanced setup with a smooth load and level path to the baseball. Has an overall fluid rhythm to his swing and stays balanced through contact. Vierling went 2-for-4 with 2 singles and an RBI. Vierling homered on Friday and slugged a deep triple to the right-center gap in Saturday’s action.
1.26.19 - 5-foot-11, 165-pound left-handed hitting catcher, sturdy build. Advanced bat, balanced, slightly open stance, short leg lift stride, strong balance through contact. 82 mph exit velocity from the tee. Arm action is short and over the top, accurate to target, arm plays up with carry and accuracy, 74 mph out of the crouch. 2.19-2.26 pop times, well above average actions. Goes home to first at 4.61.
10/20/18 - Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds with an athletic frame. Offensive catcher who shows some present bat speed from the left side of the plate. Strong hands through the zone with above average bat speed. Drove a ball the other way into the left-center field gap for an RBI single.
4/8/18 - 5-foot-9, 160-pound catcher, carries some strength. Left-handed hitter, balanced stance, loads hands back, lower half works. Strong hard contact to pull side, above average bat speed. 84 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm action is short and over the top, 70 mph out of the crouch. 2.22-2.32 pop times. 7.54 runner in the 60.
