7/11/18
Good athlete on the mound that has a clean, simple delivery. Requires normal effort while landing slightly closed and get extension on the front side. Extremely long limbs and a frame with room to fill out. Long, loose arm action that works through a high ¾ slot. Fastball has some life through the zone at 81-85 mph, some sink when gets on top of the baseball. Curveball is near 12/6 break at 63-65 mph. Changeup could be a very useable pitch while some hard, downward action at 76-77 mph. Shows potential to throw much harder in the future. Two-way prospect. A right-handed hitter that starts in an athletic stance. Obvious athleticism in the box. Launches from a balanced position displaying loud natural tools through the zone. Ball comes off his bat really well, taking one of the louder BPs of the day. Already impressive hit tool with a chance to be a beast physically as he fills out projectable frame. Defensively shows above average lateral ability moving side to side with grace Constantly fields the ball out front while creating good momentum into his throws. Shows more than enough arm strength to play the position reaching a top velocity at 86 mph across the infield. Profiles to stay at shortstop at the next level.
60-yard dash: 6.93
Infield Velocity: 86
Exit Velocity: 85

8/26/17 - 6-foot-3, 175-pound right-handed hitter initiates swing from a slightly open set up and stays open in stride. Head is still with good balance and weight shift. Thomas gets on plane early and demonstrates solid leverage at contact. There is considerable bat wrap leading to length in the swing. There is also intermittent tendency to drift with top half.
Defensively, works bottom up and out front with a clean quick transfer. Thomas would benefit from being more aggressive in attacking and playing through the baseball.
On mound, athleticism is evident out of high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball sits 80-81 with substantial run and sink. Curveball thrown thrown at 63-65 had 11/5 shape and at it's best late, sharp break. Changeup remains a work in progress with little separation from fastball and minimal movement.  Mechanically, delivery is repeated well with good balance while staying in line. There is considerable flail and Thomas markedly lowers height during stride. He would benefit from reducing flail and using his long levers to create angles by staying taller throughout delivery. Overall, there is work to be done but athleticism, stature, arm speed and movement make for interesting follow.
