Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Special "thank you" to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

NOTE: These submissions were provided from high school coaches from around the state of AL.

Mizuno Week 4 Player of the Week

Mason Blasche 3B / RHP / Hoover, AL / 2024

Blasche has quickly evolved into one of the top two-way prospects in the state of Alabama and after a breakout campaign during his junior season in 2023, the Samford recruit and PBR Future Games alumni continues to lead the way both at the plate and on the mound for the Bucs. Making a huge impact on both sides last week, the senior right-hander posted a .556 batting average (10-for-18) offensively with three doubles, a triple, a home run, seven runs batted in, six runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base hitting in the two-hole of a talented lineup. On the mound, the right-hander was equally as impressive tossing nine innings while allowing just five hits, an earned run, and punched out 13 hitters in a relief appearance in a 15-inning thriller against Pell City. He also hit for the cycle in that contest on the offensive side, as well.

Mizuno Week 4 Pitcher of the Week

Aiden Poe RHP / SS / Vincent, AL / 2025

After a historic season on the mound in 2023 helping lead the Yellow Jackets to a Class 2A State Championship appearance as a sophomore, the Air Force recruit seems to be doing the same thing this year while putting up video-game numbers on the mound. In two separate outings this past week, the right-hander was dominant in both and didn't allow a run in either appearances. Combined for the week, Poe finished going 2-0 with nine innings pitched while allowing just one hit, no runs, no walks, and striking out 15 hitters. This included a five-inning no-hitter against St. Clair County, as well. The junior continues to dominant at the Class 2A level and is a big reason why Vincent is one of the main favorites to reach the state championship this spring.
