2023 PBR All-American Game, Spotlight: Brayden Jaksa
September 1, 2023
On Saturday, Sept. 23, Prep Baseball Report is hosting its inaugural High School All-American Game at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The unique event will feature the nation’s top high school seniors who are set to battle against a roster of the country’s best juniors in Class of 2024 vs. Class of 2025 action, giving pro scouts a unique look at current and future draft classes.
We’ve begun to unveil the event’s participants on our social media channels, and we’ll spotlight those players more closely on our site, too, highlighting past performances and scouting reports from the live looks we’ve gathered on this gifted group throughout the years.
Next we are highlighting California native Brayden Jaksa, the top-ranked backstop in the country's 2025 class. The Oregon recruit skyrocketed up our recent rankings update, leaping over 150 spots and now slotting within the top-20 in the nation. He has a professional frame and consistently showed well across the summer. Jaksa looks to carry his helium into Milwaukee later this month.
Following the Area Codes Games, Prep Baseball Report's VP of Scouting Shooter Hunt had this to say about Jaksa: "Although his long-limbed, 6-foot-6, 210-pound frame doesn’t scream “catching prospect”, Jaksa showed quite the contrary as the preeminent defender in the underclass. Loose-hipped with soft hands, the agile backstop stole strikes throughout the week, but it was the potential 70-grade arm that was the showstopper. Perpetually on the bag between innings, the ball appeared to only be taking off as it met the infielder’s glove, and that weapon (and the defense as a whole) should help provide a carrying tool in the future. At the plate, the right-handed hitter demonstrated the same athleticism, remaining compact with the long limbs while still managing to leverage them in providing substantial power potential. In limited looks he went 1-for-5 with a pair of walks with a smooth stroke and innate ability to slow the game down."
