2026 OC Uncommitted Games: Quick Hits

Landon Scott SS/OF / Temecula Valley HS/ 2027

Our staff has gotten a good look at Scott over the last year or so, including when he traveled with us to Georgia for the Senior Future Games and posted strong tools at the event. At Uncommitted Games, he looked like he took another step forward. He ran a 6.76 60-yard dash, and looked polished on the dirt, touching 84 mph across the INF along with 87 in the OF. He showed twitchy, clean actions, staying low, working through the ball well and making clean transfers. The biggest change was how the ball jumped off his bat. He posted the event's best max EV at 104.5 mph and its top max distance at 387ft, along with a 92% sweet-spot rate. That carried into the game, where he led off the game portion with a hard base hit through the 5-6 hole on a slider and added a walk later in the day. With a polished glove and a bat that is taking a jump, the 2027 is set up to keep drawing attention from programs as we head into the winter and into the spring high school season.

Logan Pascarella OF/LHP / Corona HS / 2028

Pascarella has been on our radar since last spring at Corona, and the physical 6-foot-1, 195-pound two-way showed why. He opened his workout with a 6.71 60-yard dash, then pulled down 91 mph from the outfield with clean actions, attacking the ball well and showing a fluid, accurate arm. BP was just as loud. Working with a smooth swing and a scissor-kick lower half, he hit a pair of home runs and posted a 103.5 mph max EV, a 96.9 mph average EV, a 389ft max distance and a 91% hard-hit rate, doing damage both in the air and on a line with a gap-to-gap approach. On the mound, he retired all four batters he faced, one by strikeout. The fastball sat 83-85 mph and touched 86, a low-spin pitch that still carries well at 17 inches of average IVB. He paired it with a 71-75 mph curveball that is also low-spin but moves well and complements the fastball. A strong 2028 with tools on both sides of the ball, Pascarella should make noise for a very good Corona High School team as we head into the winter and into the spring high school season. 

Ryen Torres SS/RHP / Aquinas HS / 2027

Torres showed some of the best pure stuff of the event and backed it up with the best BP of the day. The right-handed-hitting infielder homered five times in roughly 12 swings, with three leaving the yard to left-center at Hart Park. He posted a 100.4 mph max exit velocity and a 371-foot max distance. That carried into the game, where he went 1-for-1 with a walk, lining a hard base hit up the middle. On the mound, the right-hander dominated his one inning of work, striking out three and pounding the zone. The only damage was a ground-ball single through the 5-6 hole, he induced weak contact throughout his outing. He attacked early and often with a fastball that lived at 85-87 mph and topped out at 88, spinning true with good vertical ride and a max spin rate of 2,472 rpm. The curveball sat at 75 mph with 2,462 rpm, -7.7 avg HM and -3.6 avg IVB. The slider was a true sweeper at 76-77 mph, spinning a tick higher at 2,535 rpm, with -16 inches of avg HM, a max of -19in and -1 inches of IVB. He showed swing and miss stuff and good feel for the SL, flashing the pitch on both sides of the plate. He also mixed in a 76-77 mph changeup to lefties that killed spin well and showed both fade and depth, with 14 inches of average HM. With a four-pitch mix already this advanced and legitimate power in the box, Torres had the best stuff of the event as we head into the winter and into the spring high school season. 

Eddie Lucero SS / Huntington Beach HS / 2028

Lucero is a left-handed-hitting SS with a projectable, lean 5’9”, 142lb frame and plenty of room to add strength as he matures. The twitchy SS opened the day by running a 6.78 60-yard dash and followed it with 86 mph across the infield, showing smooth actions on the dirt. The 2028 then put together an impressive round of BP, with two home runs, including one to dead center at Hart Park. He posted a 98.4 mph max exit velocity, a 91.4 mph average exit velocity and a 60% hard-hit rate, working with a line-drive approach and a strong attack angle that let him get the ball in the air and do damage. That carried into the game, where he went 1-for-2, driving a hard fly ball to center and lining a single to right field. With the athleticism, the arm and the impact already in the bat, Lucero has a strong foundation to grow on as we head into the winter and into the spring high school season. 

Eric Yao RHP / Corona HS / 2027

We first saw Yao at a summer ID roughly two years ago, when he sat 78 and topped out at 80 as a young arm with potential. Since then, the wiry, loose right-hander has added good weight to a 6-foot, 170-pound frame and cleaned up his mechanics considerably. He now works from a two-piece delivery with a distinct pause at the balance point before driving down the mound, and he rides the slope well to get into his backside. He induced weak contact throughout, getting two groundouts and two soft fly outs, and his only baserunner came on a walk on a close fastball inside. The fastball sat 83-85 mph and jumped out of his hand, spinning well with a max IVB of 22.5 inches and 6.4 feet of average extension. He showed he could spin a breaking ball with a 67-68 mph curveball at 2,380 rpm that had more of a sweepy action at -11.8 HM. He also flashed a tighter gyro slider at 68-70 mph with 3.1 average IVB and -2.3 average HM. His splitter was one of the more intriguing pitches at the event. It sat 68-71 mph with an 832 rpm spin rate and major tumble, diving late and unpredictably in a way that caught hitters off guard. With a fastball that jumps on hitters and a quality splitter, Yao has plenty to build on as we head into the winter and into the spring high school season. 

Oliver Allen  SS/ Patrick Henry HS / 2027

Allen is a physical, twitchy middle infielder at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds who showed tools across the board in the workout. He ran a 7.08 60-yard dash and threw 87 mph from shortstop, staying low with good footwork and clean transfers on the dirt. At the plate, he flashed strength with a 98.6 mph max exit velocity, though the contact was inconsistent during BP. That changed quickly in the game, where the swing looked different. He led off an inning with a line-drive single to center field, came back up later in the same inning and singled up the middle again, then added another hard line drive up the middle for his third hit in the sixth. He competed in the box, working counts and hunting the fastball, then jumping on it with a simple, A-to-B swing and a line-drive approach. With his physicality and an approach that played in the game, Allen has a strong foundation to build on as we head into the winter and into the spring high school season at Patrick Henry. 

Richard Rodriguez III 1B/ LHP / Santa Fe HS / 2028

Rodriguez is a physical two-way prospect at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds. He opened the day with a strong workout in the box. The left-handed hitter starts from a tall, upright, narrow stance and sinks into his back hip with a toe-tap load that heavily torques the bat. From there he takes an aggressive stride toward the plate, and the hands fire quickly, producing a 73.6 mph max bat speed. The results backed up the look: a 100.5 mph max exit velocity, a 359-foot max distance and an 83% hard-hit rate, along with the ability to drive the ball the other way. That carried right into game action. In his first at-bat, he lined a base hit up the middle into center field and then stole second base. His next time up, he smoked a double into right-center that split the outfielders. The left-hander then closed out the day as the final arm on the mound, working with repeatable, rotational mechanics that take his backside toward the catcher. He showed the ability to get outs with a fastball that sat 79-82 mph T84 with strong arm-side run. He also flashed a slider with 9.2 inches of average horizontal movement against just 1 inch of vertical break, and the pitch tunneled well off the fastball. His changeup was the standout secondary. He used it to attack right-handed hitters with great success, and at -14.4 average horizontal movement it showed both fade and depth, a plus pitch. With his physical strength, loud contact at the plate and a three-pitch mix that plays up off a rotational look, Rodriguez is a developed 2028 two-way prospect with a strong foundation to build on as we head into the winter and into the spring high school season. 

Carter Canada RHP / Corona Del Mar HS / 2028

Canada at 5’10, 178lbs showed clean, consistent mechanics as a linear mover who rides the slope well and attacks hitters. After allowing a base hit to the first batter he faced, he got a fly out to center field. He then showed a strong, athletic PFP, fielding a ground ball to his right, getting his feet under him and making a strong throw to first for the second out. He finished the inning with a punchy. The fastball showed flashes at 84-85 mph, topping out at 86. It's a low-spin pitch with 10.6 average IVB and 3.6 average HM, and he pounded the zone with it at a 75% in-zone rate. He paired it with two quality offspeed offerings. The slider sat 71-72 mph with a tighter shape that tunneled well off the fastball, and he showed feel for it in the zone. His changeup worked 74-77 mph and killed spin well at a 1,439 average rpm, with a nearly even split of 10 inches of IVB and 9.4 inches of HM. With a feel for the fastball and two quality secondaries, the 2028 right-hander is set up to make some noise as we head into the winter and into the spring high school season at Corona del Mar.
