Boras Classic Northern California: Standout Pitchers

Blaine Clemmens
Northern California Director of Scouting

Some of the more well-known prospects performed at the Boras Classic Northern California and that's always fun to see. However, maybe more exciting is coming across some lesser known players and seeing their standout performances as they make a name for themselves against good competition.

Let's take a look at some of the standout pitchers from the tournament, including a trio of outstanding uncommitted juniors and a pair of uncommitted seniors, one whose raw stuff rates with just about any senior in the region and the other one who took a no-hitter into the 7th inning.

Scouting Report

Hansen, an Oregon State commit, was the good pitcher opposite Flowers in that first game. He also went CG and only a fairly soft run allowed was the difference in the game. He's a long and lanky young right-hander who pitched to contact with his mid-80s fastball and big tumbling curveball. Hansen has a delivery and arm action reminiscent of Jered Weaver, though he's not quite as tall. He is long and young but shows impressive feel for the zone and good pitchability.
