SALINAS, CALIF. - As an open event, this was conducted as a straight traditional showcase, 60 yard run, BP round (with Blast Motion sensors and TrackMan utilized for gathering of various data and metrics), defensive workouts, and pitchers ending the day on the mound throwing 15-20 pitch sessions.

MIDDLE INFIELDERS - LISTED IN ORDER OF MAX SS VELOCITY

Alexander Glasscock, Stevenson (CA), 2023
Positional Profile
: SS/OF
Physical
: 5-8, 165-pounds; Athletic, proportional build. 6.93 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet narrow; flat bat start to upright bat position. Short take back with the hands with a gliding stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a slight lift to the ball with two handed finish. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 93 MPH via Trackman. Full swing while maintaining body control and consistent barrel contact, adjustable to different locations.
Defensively: Starts with a low to the ground setup; uses prep hop while displaying fluid actions to the baseball. Hands are out in front while staying low during transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 83 MPH. Plays low to and through the ball, fields cleanly out front keeping ball off his body, accurate thrower, strong arm with sound glove skills and range to make above average plays.

Nicolas Eckhaus, Salinas (CA), 2023

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet shoulder width apart; flat bat start to upright bat position. Loads straight back with a gliding stride for timing. Slides weight forward pre-contact. while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a flat swing path with two handed finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 76 MPH via Trackman. Able to create loft and backspin, able to keep the ball off the ground, consistently on-plane.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are underneath the body while funneling to the hip before transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 72 MPH. Sure soft hands, circles ball to get in line for the throw, reads ball cleanly, sound fundamentals.

Johnny Carnazzo, Palma (CA), 2025

: 5-6, 135-pounds; Athletic, lean build. 7.45 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; flat bat start to upright bat position. Drops hands on the way back with a moderate leg kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a flat swing path with two handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 87 MPH via Trackman. Sees ball well, outstanding barrel control, keeps flat stroke on-plane resulting in ability to spray line drives.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep step while showing active feet. Hands are out in front with a seamless transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 71 MPH. Clean defender, focused with 'nose on the ball' through the play, gets rid of it quickly, projects to be above average MIF defender as he develops.

Alec Ortiz, Salinas (CA), 2023

: 5-9, 180-pounds; Sturdy, broad shouldered build. 7.59 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet shoulder width apart; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Loads straight back with a gliding stride for timing. Drifts into contact while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a downward swing path with one-handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 93 MPH via Trackman. Heavy LD% with strong barrel control metrics, stays on-plane while peppering LDs in middle of the field.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 68 MPH. Steady within his range capabilities, soft hands, lower 3/4 slot while occasionally flipping under the ball, gets ball out fairly quickly while at times patting the glove.

Sebastian Juarez-Lopez, Rancho San Juan (CA), 2023

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet shoulder width apart; flat bat to start. Loads straight back with a slight leg-kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a flat swing path with one-handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 83 MPH via Trackman. Equal line drive % to fly ball %, keeps top hand above ball on way to contact, uses the whole field while staying consistently on-plane.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are out in front with a delay in transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 68 MPH. Measured footwork, clean angles, fair range capabilities, sets up to ball with sound fundamentals with soft hands.

James Conners, Palma (CA), 2023

Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet narrow; flat bat to start. Loads straight back with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a direct swing path with two handed finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 82 MPH via Trackman. Heavy sweet spot % (75), high launch angle, stayed on-plane consistently as the attack angle is tailored to putting the ball in the air.
Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; walks into ready position while showing active feet. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Short take back from a low 3/4 arm slot. INF - 67 MPH. Gets ball out quickly, flicks it across the diamond, soft sure hands, fair range, quiet actions.

Julian Lopez, Salinas (CA), 2025

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Drifts into contact while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with two handed finish. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 80 MPH via Trackman. Heavy % of flyballs while keeping swing consistently on-plane which illuminates his approach to put ball in the air, has balance in box with a stable base, hands work well to and through the ball.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep step while displaying fluid actions to the baseball. Hands are out in front with a seamless transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 66 MPH. Well-rounded footwork and glove-work skills, smooth through reception to release, angles are clean, steady defender with feel for the glove.

Zachary Armenta, Rancho San Juan (CA), 2023

Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; upright bat position. Loads straight back with a slight leg-kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with two handed finish. More ground balls than line drives and fly balls with a peak exit velocity of 91 MPH via Trackman. Swing works, was just a bit aggressive with top hand that resulted in the higher GB% rate, solidly on-plane, has ability to drive ball from oppo gap to his extreme pull side.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while showing choppy feet. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Long arm swing from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 69 MPH. OF - 75 MPH. Focused energy on defensive side, 1B defense showed some feel for the position, fairly accurate on feeds, gets ball out fairly quickly, in the OF took direct routes, calm clean transfer.

Ben Scattini, Palma (CA), 2023

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; flat bat to start. Loads straight back with a moderate leg kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a compact swing path with one-handed finish. More ground balls than line drives and fly balls with a peak exit velocity of 87 MPH via Trackman. Works to stay above the ball, somewhat upright throughout the swing, short with what looks like ability to pepper crisp line drives in the middle of the field.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep step while showing active feet. Hands are out in front while funneling to the hip before transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. 3B - 68 MPH. Uses hands well, keeps ball off his body, gets ball underway with some air under it, presented himself as a steady glove man.

Nathan Sternberg, Serra (San Mateo, CA), 2023

: 6-1, 215-pounds; Full, broad shouldered build. 8.23 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; flat to upright bat position. Drops hands on the way back with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a sweeping swing path with one-handed finish. More fly balls than line drives and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 84 MPH via Trackman. Showed barrel awareness, all results were flyball or line drive (37.5%), aggressive attack angle, maintains balance throughout the swing.
Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are out in front clean transfer with occasional pat of the glove. Moderate arm circle from a standard 3/4 arm slot. INF - 70 MPH. Trusts his hands which appear to be sure and soft, projects at 1B more favorably than 3B, works below the ball well at 1B and should deft footwork and adjustability to off-schedule plays.
