SALINAS, CALIF. - As an open event, this was conducted as a straight traditional showcase, 60 yard run, BP round (with Blast Motion sensors and TrackMan utilized for gathering of various data and metrics), defensive workouts, and pitchers ending the day on the mound throwing 15-20 pitch sessions.

OUTFIELDERS - LISTED IN ORDER OF MAX OF VELOCITY

Cameron Leaney, Redlands East Valley (CA), 2023
Positional Profile

: 6-0, 185-pounds; Athletic,
rangy build. 6.90 runner in the 60.
 Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; upright bat position. Extended take back of the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a sweeping swing path with two handed finish. More fly balls than line drives and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 96 MPH via Trackman. From deeper load showed ability to make consistent barrel contact while staying on-plane, has loft power, knows how to elevate, bat speed and approach suggest legitimate power potential.
 Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; walks into ready position while utilizing a quick first step. Hands are off to the side with a seamless transfer. Long arm swing from a high-3/4 arm slot. OF - 85 MPH. Creates clean and direct angles through the ball, aggressive first move as he reads the ball early, arm talent and feet suggest a well-above average defender.

Joseph Barros, Palma (CA), 2023

 Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet shoulder width apart; flat bat to start. Short take back with the hands with a knee knock leg kick for timing. Drifts into contact while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with two handed finish with occasional top hand release. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 96 MPH via Trackman. Strength comes through, focused approach with 'nose on the ball' leading to consistent hard barrel contact, ability to drive ball through the gaps, avg EV of 92.4 mph
 Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; walks into ready position while showing active feet. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Long arm swing from a high/over the top arm slot. OF - 83 MPH. Calm approach, measured feet, angles are clean, gets rid of ball in rhythm, efficient actions to and through ball and release.

Adrian Ruiz, San Benito (CA), 2023

 Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Loads straight back with a moderate leg kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a flat swing path with two handed finish with occasional top hand release. More ground balls than line drives and fly balls with a peak exit velocity of 91 MPH via Trackman. Full finish, aggressive stroke with willingness to let it fly, has hand eye coordination and ability to stay gap to gap with line drives which should serve as his strength.
 Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep step while showing active feet. Hands are off to the side with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high-3/4 arm slot. OF - 79 MPH. Outstanding defensive mechanics, clean footwork/glovework in tandem, gets ball out quickly with accuracy.

Ayden Ramirez, Everett Alverez (CA), 2024

 Offensively: LHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Drops hands on the way back with a heel lift for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a slashing stroke with one-handed finish. More groundballs than line drives and flyballs with a peak exit velocity of 87 MPH via Trackman. Contact oriented stroke with ability to spray the ball to the opposite field, showed barrel awareness while staying in control of his approach.
 Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; uses prep hop while showing active feet. Hands are off to the side with a clean transfer. Short take back from a high-3/4 arm slot. OF - 77 MPH. Measured approach to ball, showed feel of his mechanics, clean angles, focused on accuracy while staying within himself.

Chris Martinez, Palma (CA), 2024

 Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet wide spread; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Loads straight back with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a long swing path with two handed finish. More groundballs than line drives and flyballs with a peak exit velocity of 87 MPH via Trackman. Displayed some rotational aspects to the swing causing inconsistent barrel contact, keep the bat on-plane well while getting into the zone quickly.
 Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; walks into ready position while showing active feet. Hands are off to the side with a clean transfer. Moderate arm circle from a standard-3/4 arm slot. OF - 73 MPH. Tools for average performance at a corner OF spot, footwork, breaks on the ball in the right direction, fairly compact arm action and release that can get ball underway efficiently.

Giovani Ramirez, Salinas (CA), 2023

 Offensively: LHH. Open setup, with feet wide spread; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Extended take back of the hands with an exaggerated leg kick for timing. Drifts into contact while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a sweeping swing path with two handed finish with occasional top hand release. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 87 MPH via Trackman. Graceful stroke, handsy swing, stays in legs throughout the swing, contact type was spread nearly evenly among LDs (25%), fly balls (37.5%), GBs (37.5%).
 Defensively: Starts with a balanced setup; walks into ready position while showing choppy feet. Hands are off to the side with a delay in transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high-3/4 arm slot. OF - 68 MPH. Cautious approach, though not the quickest transfer/release he does maintain body control and fielded ball in a steady manner.

Offensively: RHH. Open setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; upright bat position. Extended take back of the hands with a gliding stride for timing. Drifts into contact while showing an aggressive lower half. Showed a slight lift to the ball with a finish around the back. More fly balls than line drives and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 103 MPH via Trackman. Strong and violent swing, able to consistently get to the power with hand speed and bat speed, intent to do damage comes through, 60% fly balls and 30% line drives, understands his approach.
Defensively: Starts with a compact setup; utilizing a one knee approach while staying low during receiving. Hands work under the ball while slightly standing during transfer. Short take back from a high-3/4 arm slot. 1.94-2.07 pop times. C - 78 MPH. Big arm with ability to get it out quickly, pops all highly competitive on the watch, gains ground toward the pitch while setting up to transfer, highly efficient if just a bit early out of crouch.

Daniel Lopes, San Benito (CA), 2022

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Loads straight back with a heel lift for timing. Slides weight forward pre-contact. while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a slight lift to the ball with a finish around the back. More flyballs than line drives and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 90 MPH via Trackman. Smooth swing, stays within self while making adjustments to various pitch locations, has gap power talent and tools for consistent contact.
Defensively: Starts with a compact setup; utilizing both traditional and one-knee set-up while staying low during receiving. Hands are soft while staying low during transfer. Short take back from a standard 3/4 arm slot. 2.01-2.15 pop times. C - 76 MPH. Good natural arm strength, pop times play up and true to what would be seen in game competition, flexible and agile behind the plate, room for some improvement including slightly smaller foot action in the release, good all-around catching talent.

Nathan Vazquez, Salinas  (CA), 2024

Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet shoulder width apart; flat bat to start. Extended take back of the hands with a slight leg-kick for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a flat swing path with one-handed finish. More groundballs than line drives and flyballs with a peak exit velocity of 83 MPH via Trackman. Stays fairly tall during the swing, hands above the ball with a somewhat steep attack angle, fairly efficient in regard to staying on-plane.
Defensively: Starts with a compact setup; utilizing a traditional primary position while staying low during receiving. Hands are out in front while staying low during transfer. Moderate arm circle from a high-3/4 arm slot. 2.11-2.26 pop times. C - 73 MPH. SS - 78 MPH. Versatile defender with MIF/C talents, uses natural athleticism both at SS and behind plate, accurate thrower at SS, played well on the move, there are hints of future arm strength as he gains strength.
