Draft Spotlight: SS Brice Turang
June 3, 2018
The list of accomplishments is long, here are a few. In 2016, Turang, a HS sophomore, made the U18 USA National Team, a roster chalked with future major leaguers, where they collected a gold medal at the COPABE Pan Am AAA Championships in Monterrey, Mexico. The same year he was the MVP of the Big VIII league. A year later, in 2017, he captured a Gold medal, hitting .353 in 9 games, and making a big impact with the U18 USA Team at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, in Thunder Bay, Canada. Turang also garnered attention by being selected to play in the prestigious Area Code Games in Long Beach, Ca., representing the Milwaukee Brewers. He was also named an All-American by various outlets.
An LSU commit currently ranked 16th overall and the #1 shortstop on the PBR Draft Board, Turang not only has the MLB bloodlines, but the talent as well. He carries himself like major leaguer, and has a certain demeanor and confidence about him that I love. Turang had a big MLB following from scouts this year and always seemed to play loose and unfazed at the droves of scouts at each game.
Let's take a closer look at Bryce Turang.
