Draft Spotlight: RHP Joe Magrisi

Les Lukach
State Scouting Director

The first thing that stands out when you see the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Magrisi is how physically strong he is. Then he takes the mound and you can see why he's an intriguing pitching prospect for both the collegiate and professional levels.

On May 15th, a game we scouted him, Magrisi threw his sixth consecutive shutout and ran his scoreless inning streak to 51 in a complete game, two-hit shutout of PBR California #20 La Costa Canyon that included 12 strikeouts.

Magrisi flashes a four-pitch mix with each pitch seemingly better than the previous. Ironically though, the best pitch on this day was his slider which he threw only sparingly. His curveball flashes plus pitch potential while his changeup makes his fastball play way up. His balanced and repeatable delivery coupled with his current arm speed and ease of delivery indicates there may be more in the tank for this Cal State Fullerton commit.

Let's take a closer look at Joe Magrisi of Torrey Pines High School.
