Game Notes (CA): #16 Franklin at Cosumnes Oaks

ELK GROVE, CA - The #16 Power 25 ranked Franklin Wildcats stayed in town to take on city rival and new Delta League rival Cosumnes Oaks in the first league game for both teams. We saw Franklin take on Buchanan a few weeks back so this was a second look at one of the top teams in the state and our first look at a young and talented COHS squad. Franklin won 5-0 behind another strong outing from senior LHP Grant Stevens (Pacific signee, 5.2 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 4 K, 2 BB) and a big offensive game from junior outfielder Chase Davis (Arizona commit, 2-for-4, 2 2B, 3 RBI), a top ranked player in the state (#5)/nation in the junior class.

A few of the COHS players were the draw to this game, as I was looking forward to seeing junior RHP Cam Walty (St. Mary's commit) and a pair of sophomores we'd seen quite well at PBR events, SS/P Elvin Delic and C John Sheehan. Both Walty (3 IP, H, ER, 5 K, 2 BB) and Delic (3 IP, 4 H, 3 K, 2 BB) pitched in this one and Sheehan (1-for-3) came away with one of the five COHS knocks.
