Game Notes (CA): Branson at #14 Marin Catholic

Blaine Clemmens
Northern California Director of Scouting

KENTFIELD, CA - Not that I EXPECTED an upset, but with hard-throwing 2019 RHP Will Jacobsen (Harvard commit) on the mound, I did expect a competitive game. This was a conference game (MCAL) but Branson competes in the NCS playoffs as a D5 and #14 Marin Catholic competes at the D2 level. But with their best pitcher on the mound it was clear the Bulls were feeling good about their chances.

They were in the game and had a 1-0 lead early on as the Bulls hitters got to 2019 RHP Addison Berger (Oregon) for five hits and a run and chased him from the game. MC tied the game in the 3rd inning as 2019 catcher Jay Tarkenton (Old Dominion commit) walked for the first of what would be three times in this one, stole a pair of bases and scored on a solid single (video below) from 2020 3B Harry Mauterer. Mauterer and senior SS Eli Larson (Richmond commit) were offensive standouts for Marin Catholic.

Video/reports on Jacobsen, Larson, Mauterer, Dylan Joyce, Max Manning, along with notes/nuggets on other players, including a number of frosh/soph players.
