Game Notes: St. Francis at Los Gatos

Los Gatos, CA - It was clear and chilly in Los Gatos as two of the top teams in the region, and state, met early in the season. Both these teams went deep into the playoffs in 2018 with Los Gatos falling just short of a CIF-CCS Open Title and St. Francis winning the CIF-CCS D2 Title. The talent was on display from both squads and expect them both to be playing late through the spring again this year.

The St. Francis Lancers wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard having five straight batters reach in the first on three hits for two runs. In the 3rd inning, the Lancers had five straight runners reach on three walks and a ground rule double adding to their lead and extending the score 4-0. That’s all the offense they would need as ‘20 RHP Joey Schott was phenomenal on the hill going six strong innings, not giving up a hit until two outs in the fifth. The Lancers scored another one in the 4th and two in the fifth, winning the game 7-1.

Uncommitted ‘20 RHP Joey Schott was the star of the game as he carved through the Wildcats lineup striking out five, giving up two hits and walking none in his six innings. A runner didn’t reach second base until the sixth inning against Schott.

Inside are scouting notes (with video) and game notes on a group of 10 players including uncommitted players from the ‘19-’20 classes and a couple of the top-ranked ‘20 players in the state.
