2019 LHP/1B Carter Benbrook (Jesuit HS) has been named this week’s Prep Baseball Report Northern California Player of the Week due to his standout performances in four games this past week, as his Jesuit HS team has been working toward a conference title late in the season. His performances, both on the mound and at the plate, have Jesuit battling for the Delta League title today against Franklin HS of Elk Grove.

Benbrook's week started off with a game against Pleasant Grove HS on 5/1. In that game he was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored, 2 home runs, and 6 RBI, as JHS won the game 7-1. On 5/3 I was on hand to see Benbrook on the mound against league rival Elk Grove HS and all he did was throw a CG, along with knocking in both runs with a double off the right centerfield fence in a 2-1 Jesuit win. He allowed 5 hits, 1 run, walked a pair and recorded 8 strikeouts. Here is video of one of those strikeouts.

On 5/4 Jesuit was again taking on Elk Grove, this time EGHS won the game 2-1 and though Benbrook had a modest game with an 0-2 day at the plate, including a walk. Jesuit took on Vacaville on 5/5 in a non-conference game against another section title contender and though he took an 0-4 on the day, his impact during the week was outstanding nonetheless, as the team went 3-1.

For the season, Benbrook (a University of Washington commit) is 3-1 on the mound with a 0.69 ERA in 30.1 IP, with 37 K against 17 BB, and has allowed only 18 hits. At the plate he is hitting .329, with 18 R, 8 2B, 3 HR, and 19 RBI.

For his efforts, Carter Benbrook has been named the Prep Baseball Report NorCal Player of the Week for the week of April 30-May 6 and Prep Baseball Report congratulates him for his hard work and contributions to the Jesuit Marauders.
