NorCal Player of the Week: LHP Grant Stevens

2019 LHP Grant Stevens (Franklin HS-Elk Grove) has been named this week’s Prep Baseball Report Northern California Player of the Week due to his standout performance on 3/17/18.

As two of Northern California’s top teams hooked on St. Patrick’s Day, Stevens threw the second no-hitter for the Wildcats this season, as they defeated a very strong Oak Ridge HS team by an 8-0 score. Stevens gets the headline, but it should be noted that his twin brother Carson has now caught TWO no-hitters this season, one of which was a perfect game.

He retired the last 17 hitters he faced, which on its own is a ridiculous accomplishment. However, he also struck out 10 and only two runners reached base safely, a first inning walk and an error on a ground ball to second base in the second inning. He completed the gem in only 88 pitches.  Quite an effort!

Stevens was a varsity performer as a sophomore and he earned 1st Team All-Delta League.  The Delta League is one of Northern California’s (and frankly, the state’s) top conferences.

For his efforts, Stevens has been named the Prep Baseball Report NorCal Player of the Week for the week of March 12-18.

The Prep Baseball Report salutes Grant Stevens’ hard work and success for the Franklin Wildcats.
