NorCal Player of the Week: RHP Evan Gibbons

Blaine Clemmens
Northern California Director of Scouting

2018 RHP Evan Gibbons (Franklin HS, Elk Grove, CA) has been named this week’s Prep Baseball Report Northern California Player of the Week due to his incredible performance on the mound 2/28 vs Vacaville.

Gibbons threw a perfect game as Franklin won 2-0. He struck out 15 and got three comebackers to the mound. A Sacramento State commit, Gibbons sat in the 88-91 mph range all game and mixed in a wipe-out slider to punch out out numerous Bulldog hitters. Making the effort stand out that much more is that Vacaville's starting shortstop and catcher are both headed to play Pac-12 ball in the fall.

It’s the first perfect game in school history and Gibbons set the single game record for strikeouts.

For his efforts, Gibbons has been named the Prep Baseball Report NorCal Player of the Week for the week of February 26 - March 3.

The Prep Baseball Report salutes Gibbons' hard work and success.
