NorCal Player of the Week: RHP/INF Bubba Gomez

Blaine Clemmens
Northern California Director of Scouting

2019 RHP/INF Bubba Gomez (Fremont Christian HS) has been named this week’s Prep Baseball Report Northern California Player of the Week due to his standout performances in two games this past week, along with a stream of outstanding performances all spring long. Gomez has been a regular nominee from his coach and has deservedly appeared multiple times in the weekly Diamond Notes each Wednesday.

This past week, Gomez threw a No-Hitter, recording a strikeout for 14 of the 15 outs in a run-rule shortened game. He issued one walk and hit one batter. For good measure, Gomez went 3-for-5 at the plate with a pair of triples, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. In a game earlier in the week, Gomez was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, and 5 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.

For the season the junior pitcher/infielder is hitting .418, with 24 runs and 32 RBI. He is 21/21 in stolen bases as well. On the mound his ERA is 1.21 in 40.1 IP, allowing only 17 hits, with 82 strikeouts. Gomez has been used against the top competition Fremont Christian has faced this season, facing larger schools and some in the NCS D1 division. His performance all season has truly been outstanding.

For his efforts, Bubba Gomez has been named the Prep Baseball Report NorCal Player of the Week for the week of April 16-22 and Prep Baseball Report congratulates him for his hard work and contributions to the Fremont Christian Warriors.
