STOCKTON, CA. - The 2019 MLB Draft was completed on June 5th and on June 9th we started to look toward the 2020 draft class at the Northern California ProCase. A select group of players were invited to participate in this exclusive event geared toward draft prospects and high level collegiate talents with future draft potential. Players were put through a pro-style workout with various stats/data recorded during the workouts which can be found HERE

INF/OF Jeriah Lewis (Encinal HS)

2020 INF/OF Jeriah Lewis (Uncommitted) has a very athletic and lithe build showing lean muscle with the projection to continue to strengthen and add to his 6-0, 160 frame. Uses his legs well getting to full speed quickly (7.25 60yd) and uses that same speed on the bases and in the field.

Hitting from the left-side, Lewis starts tall and open with hands even and a high elbow having loose hands pre-pitch. Controls an easy front foot lift as the hands work back allowing him to stay balanced and in time with the pitcher; the barrel is quick into the zone showing a flat barrel through it finishing up high above his shoulders flashing some whip of the barrel. During rounds of BP Lewis showed he could work gap-to-gap with line drives spraying the ball around the field; contact oriented swing designed to create hard contact for extra-base hits (88 EV).

Defensively showed the skills to play either in the OF or stick in the middle of the diamond. From the OF Lewis was loose and fluid moving easy to the ball using a loose, slingy arm slot to keep throws on bags (79 MPH); strong carry with the ability to improve some. The quick actions translate over to the infield where he's got loose hips and quick feet getting around the ball easily before moving through in time to make accurate throws; quick release and enough strength to stick in the middle of the diamond (81 MPH) playing up at 2nd base.

One of the top Uncommitted players in the 2020 class, Lewis has the tools and the versatility that college coaches should want to work with and continue to develop. His ability to stick in premium positions in the middle of the field and use of a quick bat showcase a player who still hasn't reached his ceiling and is starting to grow more confident in his skills. Lewis is the type of player who is going to help a team at the next level.
