LATHROP, CALIF. - The Northern California Uncommitted Senior Games took place at Islanders Field at River Islands on 9/26/20. Nearly 80 players attended, 24 of whom pitched.

TrackMan was used for pitchers during their live competitive at-bats vs hitters, tracking velocity, spin rate, as well as all the other more advanced data points.

We are rolling out position reports this week, starting with pitchers today. Be on the look out for future reports on catchers, infielders, and outfielders.

Joshua Algarin, The King’s Academy (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-9, 160-pounds. Proportional, athletic frame with high waist and significant room to add muscle.
Delivery: Athletic, has some power in legs, very small rocker, easy lift, on-line, stiffens lead leg, fair extension caused by spinning off.
Arm Action: LH. Smooth easy arm, clean on back, quick from top of arm swing through release, overhand slot.
FB: T84, 81-83 mph. Quick, has life when in zone, significant movement, control can improve.
CB: 65-66 mph. Smooth action, rolls down, limited use of it, looks to be his 3rd pitch.
CH: 76-77 mph. Fading action off the plate in bottom of zone, good pace of FB, finishes well.

Andrew Barger, Buchanan (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: LHP
Body: 6-1, 185-pounds. Average build with longer torso, well-proportioned.
Delivery: Simple rocker step, rhythm with hands and feet during lift, on-line stride, fans plant foot, tilts toward 3B side.
Arm Action: LH. Overhand slot, smooth and easy on backside, clean, low effort.
FB: T80, 76-79 mph. Fairly straight with some slight late fade just off the barrel.
CB: 63-65 mph. Smooth sizeable break, kept down, able to get chases below the zone.

Bryce Baughman, Placer (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-1, 180-pounds. Average present build, rangy, with a frame to hold future size and strength.
Delivery: High knee lift, all from stretch, uses hips well, long stride, good body control, in-line, outstanding extension.
Arm Action: LH. Sidearm with occasional low-3/4 slot, long easy quick arm, did work to get lower than sub at times.
FB: T81, 77-80 mph. Quicker than the velocity, best sink when got to lower slots, has feel of the zone, induces contact.
SL: 63-69 mph. Flashed ability to sweep into and out of zone, can add and sub, has feel for zone and getting off the barrel.

Zachary Connors, Dougherty Valley (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-3, 175-pounds. Lean long body, trim and athletic, ample room for size and strength gains.
Delivery: Sizeable side step, modest waist high knee lift, swings lead knee around, lands slightly open, has body control, stable plant foot.
Arm Action: RH. Easy loose arm, clean on backside, quick arm, low effort, finishes with good extension.
FB: T88, 84-86 mph. Sneaky quick, flashes life when staying through the target, pulled quite a few to 1B side, minimal movement.
CB: 68-69 mph. Big shape 11/5 type, only threw one, quality spin with potential for big biting CB.
CH: 73 mph. Did not use in game action, only flashed in warm-ups, similar release as FB good differential.

Teague Drotar, Los Gatos (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Large, proportional frame that shows all around strength and future growth.
Delivery: High aggressive knee lift, hands lift above head during the lift, sinks into backside well, in-line stride, some heel land, maintains body control, finishes in good fielding position.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm on backside, gets close to full extension, overhand slot.
FB: T84, 79-82 mph. Creates tilt/angle, can run it in on RHH, sneaky velo with high IVB numbers, aggressively pounds the zone with FB.
SL: 71-72 mph. Smaller break but fairly late, able to use to get contact just off the barrel, fair spin, usable pitch to set up FB
CH: 71-75 mph. Plays well off the FB due to near identical release height, enough differential to be effective, has feel for this pitch and the zone.

Garrett Faure, Woodside (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: C/RHP
Body: 6-0, 185-pounds. Average build with some strength, well-proportioned.
Delivery: Composed, simple, good body control, in-line direction, repeatable, small rocker with hip height knee lift, hands and feet are in sync.
Arm Action: RH. High-3/4 slot, loose, easy arm, elbow above hand on backside before starting forward.
FB: T83, 80-82 mph. Sneaky usable FB with enough movement and tilt to get hitters out in the zone with contact, fills up the zone, can sink it and also go up.
CB: 65-66 mph. Big shape, continuous roll through the zone, displayed feel, big differential off the FB, 11/6 shape, helps the fastball play up.
CH: 74 mph. Appears very similar to the FB, deceptive in that the release height and extension are similar to FB, threw only one.

Jordan Gass, Monte Vista (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 5-10, 190-pounds. Medium, stout, filled out, muscular frame.
Delivery: Overhead with hands, high knee lift and tuck over rubber, strong use of lower half, energetic athletic delivery with cross body stride.
Arm Action: RH. Deep on backside, comes out of it on time getting to 3/4 slot, can change arm angles to manipulate movement.
FB: T81, 77-80 mph. Can run it down and ride it up, delivery gives the FB some deception, showed excellent feel for zone, sneaky with the 6.05 avg extension.
CB: 62-66 mph. Big sweeper, starts it in zone and got numerous bats started, has both depth and horizontal movement.
SL: 60-61 mph. Slightly different look off CB, smaller break wile dropping down a bit more, again, showed feel.
CH: 73-75 mph. Gets fade in the zone, drops release height on this pitch, big movement w/ability to work under bats.

Stephen Kwak, Bellarmine College Prep (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-3, 190-pounds. Tall and broad body type, outstanding frame for future size and strength gains.
Delivery: Simple, starts in stretch, medium knee lift, good direction, falls to 1B side a bit, uses lower half well.
Arm Action: RH. Medium depth on backside, has leverage, overhand slot, hides ball well, strong fast arm.
FB: T88, 83-86 mph. Quick with length through zone, deceptive, has ride, fairly straight but gets swing/miss up in zone.
CB: 69-71 mph. Big 11/6 shape, tight spin, depth to bottom of zone, feel for it, classic overhand CB.
SL: 74 mph. Effective difference from CB, a little harder with lateral break and depth, spins well, capable swing/miss pitch.
CH: 83 mph. Slight differential off FB, showed feel, potential power type change, uses as his fourth pitch.
CUT: 77 mph.

Nathan Maas, Soquel (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-3, 205-pounds. Long, prototypical pitcher frame, room to continue to add size and strength.
Delivery: Compact particularly for a tall pitcher, slightly above hip lift, gathers and tucks over the rubber, sinks into backside, in-line, fluid, gets off rubber well, stays behind ball.
Arm Action: RH. Clean circular backside, keeps fingers above ball, outstanding finish and extension, overhand release.
FB: T88, 84-87 mph. Has length, stays on plane, can tilt it, enough late movement to get off barrel contact, finishes it well, usable as a primary offering.
CB: 71-76 mph. Spin projects an above average pitch, two plane break, feel for zone, can start bats with the late movement.
CH: 79-82 mph. Late big run to arm side, power change with outstanding finish.

Thomas Meyer, Granite Bay (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP/SS
Body: 6-1, 190-pounds. Strong athletic build, put together well, athletic proportions.
Delivery: Slight rocker step, low drop of hands a'la Verlander, easy high knee lift, modest stride, good body control, in-line, upright finish, fluid.
Arm Action: RH. Long backside, loose arm, easy, timing of arm stroke and delivery occasionally off, high-3/4 slot, projectable arm speed/strength.
FB: T86, 81-85 mph. Sneaky depth through zone due to easy arm action, flashed late run, holds plane well, can get in on RHH.
CB: 69-73 mph. Smooth smaller break, lacked much depth in this look, usable as show pitch presently, drops release height off the FB look.
 
Callum Olsen, Palo Alto (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-1, 180-pounds. Average build with athletic proportions, has room for size and strength gains.
Delivery: Quick tempo lift, tucks and gathers with minimal time over the rubber before going forward, slight cross body stride, lands flat, strong athletic type delivery, stayed in stretch whole time.
Arm Action: RH. Depth on backside with hand under elbow, loose and quick arm, arm keeps pace with delivery, high-3/4 slot.
FB: T86, 83-85 mph. Holds velo through zone, late action, maintains plane with length, good finish.
CB: 68-69 mph. Tight spin, big two plane break with late downer action, depth to get swings and misses.
CH: 77-79 mph. Outstanding late finish to it, late fade off the FB look to get swing-overs.

Will Pappas, De La Salle (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-0, 167-pounds. Medium frame, lean muscle, athletic build.
Delivery: Rhythmic tempo, gets on post leg with gathered power, small rocker, mid-torso lift, lands with very slight cross body stride, lands with stability while creating leverage.
Arm Action: RH. Loose quick arm, finishes with extension, some wrist hook on backside, 3/4 slot.
FB: T88, 85-87 mph. Quick through zone, jumped on hitters with velo and late big movement, flashed power sink, pounded zone, outstanding finish.
CB: 66-67 mph. Big 11/4 shape, some biting action, finished well, big change of pace off the FB, maintains quick arm speed, releases with considerably higher slot.
CH: 76-77 mph. Big late fade, wide variance off the FB, similar look out of hand as FB, finishes and sells well, takes off considerable spin.

Ben Pernetti, Pleasant Grove (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-1, 205-pounds. XL frame. Ken Caminiti build.
Delivery: Uses lower body well, simple mechanics, mid-torso knee lift, generates power from core and lower half, in-line stride, stable lower body, good direction and pace down slope.
Arm Action: RH. Compact backside, medium mid-thigh depth, overhand slot, hides ball well.
FB: T86, 83-85 mph. Heavy action, both four and two seamer, finishes well, can ride it up and sink it down.
CB: 69-73 mph. Tight spin, big shape, power hammer CB in the making, abrupt change of direction for swing and miss potential.

Syler Pillsbury, Minarets (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: LHP
Body: 5-10, 165-pounds. Smaller frame, compact build with athletic proportions, lean strength.
Delivery: Small rocker, good athleticism, tuck pinch of lift knee, sinks into backside, uses hips well, slight cross body stride.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm, deep on backside, quick arm, can be more consistent with control of the arm swing, high-3/4 slot.
FB: T83, 80-82 mph. Comes out of hand hot, can create above average run, sneaky quick velo due to extension, can develop better control.
CB: 66-70 mph. Flashed snappy bite, shape to get swing-miss from LHH and use back foot or backdoor to RHH, showed best feel for this pitch in his repertoire.
CH: 77 mph. Flashed only one, considerable extension to release, late fade would play well off FB as both offerings and feel of zone develops.

Lucas Ringenberg, Alhambra (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Average build, lean and lanky, squared shoulders.
Delivery: In control over the rubber, medium knee lift, swings stride foot back past rubber, modest in-line stride, has lower body strength, repeatable for strike throwing ability.
Arm Action: RH. Calm out of the glove, full extension with some depth toward 1st base side, high-3/4 slot.
FB: T79, 75-78 mph. Controlled glove side well, worked edges of zone to start bats and seek soft contact, enough late wrinkle on arm side to get ground balls.
CB: 68-69 mph. Feel for zone, smooth break though with late continuing roll through the zone, release is similar to FB adding to the usability.
CH: 71-73 mph. Straight change with good finish, fade to bottom of zone.

Anthony Sanguinetti, Archbishop Mitty (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-0, 150-pounds. Wiry lean body type, smaller frame.
Delivery: Loosy goosey actions, high knee lift, long stride, fans front foot as foot strikes with in-line stride, sinks into plant leg giving away some leverage.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm, quick out of glove to deep backside with full extension, 3/4 slot, hides ball a bit.
FB: T82, 77-80 mph. Extension plays up the velo a bit, release provides some deception, hints of lift that project fairly with strength gains, fairly straight but kept down.
CB: 64-65 mph. Wide sweeping action, feel for zone, can start in zone and sweep out, enough spin to hint at sharper bite as he develops.
SL: 67-71 mph. Tighter than CB with quicker change of direction, has feel of the release and control of the break.
CH: 73-74 mph. Limited usage, arm side run and fade to bottom of zone, lowers slot on this release.

Keone Sayers, Soquel (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-8, 225-pounds. Large frame, body has presence, well-proportioned, going to be a big man.
Delivery: Impressive body control given his height and long levers, wide rocker step while dragging post foot along the rubber, chest high knee lift, in-line stride, fants plant foot upon foot strike, has rhythm.
Arm Action: RH. Compact backside with circular arm swing, high-3/4 slot, smooth easy arm.
FB: T84, 80-83 mph. Mostly straight with feel around the zone, long extension plays up the velo a bit, there is another velo jump coming in future.
SL: 69-71 mph. Traditional shape, mostly lateral break, minimal depth, smooth action.
CH: 72-75 mph. Straight change, sells it fairly well off FB look, modest change of pace pitch.
 
Ryan Shimabukuro, Saint Mary’s College HS (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: LHP
Body: 6-0, 160-pounds. Sinewy body type, lean and wiry on a smaller frame.
Delivery: Very small rocker, modest hip high knee lift, short stride, lands athletically, maintains body control, in-line stride.
Arm Action: RH. Smooth easy arm, cups ball out of glove, medium mid-thigh depth of arm swing, high-3/4 slot.
FB: T78, 75-77 mph. Despite modest velocity there is some life through zone and some sneakiness, can run it to arm side.
CB: 67-68 mph. Smooth action, big shape at times, two plane break, flashed depth in the zone for potential swing-over type CB, showed feel for zone.
SL: 70-71 mph. Showed one, more traditional slider break, smooth break.
CH: 70-71 mph. Minimal usage, decelerates spin considerably off the FB look, slight arm side run.

Matthew Sigafoos, Damonte Ranch (NV), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Athletic build, has lean muscle, well-proportioned.
Delivery: Simple, very small rocker, medium lift just above hips, strong over the rubber, gathers power on backside, leaves rubber with conviction, slight cross body stride, powerful hips.
Arm Action: RH. Compact backside, quick arm, transitions forward easily developing arm speed easily, 3/4 slot.
FB: T87, 84-87 mph. Plays quick, late movement, holds plane well, finishes with conviction, pounded the zone, usable as primary pitch.
SL: 71-73 mph. Tight spin, big wide break w/modest depth, shape can take it out of zone early if not started in right spot.
CH: 78 mph. Used only once, late fade, flashed dive action, finishes well.

Connor Timmins, East Nicolaus (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-3, 180-pounds. Tall, lean, high waisted frame with ample room to add weight and muscle.
Delivery: Athletic actions over rubber, high knee lift, in-line stride, works quickly down slope, occasional spin off toward 1st base line.
Arm Action: RH. Quick loose arm, quick out of the glove, some depth on backside but fairly compact, high-3/4 slot.
FB: T83, 80-82 mph. Worked up in zone, flashed big movment on arm side though mostly straight when delivery was in tact.
CB: 67-68 mph. Smooth two plane break, 11/5 shape, hints of a quick CB in the making, feel is there.
CH: 76-77 mph. Big arm side fade and run, break and action are a bit early, more run than fade with depth.

Raiden Toche, River Valley (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-0, 160-pounds. Tall, lean frame with high waist with significant room to add weight and muscle
Delivery: Simple and athletic, high knee lift, foot down with smooth slide and glide down slope, in-line direction, maintains body control, does tend to pull head off line.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm, quick out of glove with some reach back stab to mid-thigh depth, finishes well, overhand slot.
FB: T81, 75-80 mph. Works best up in zone, straight, extension/finish allow for some sneakiness, can develop better control.
CB: 63-66 mph. Big 12/6 type bender, rolls deep into the zone with potential swing over bottoming out action, showed feel for it and confidence, big change of pace.

Joey Van Dusen, Chico (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-0, 170-pounds. Athletic build, has lean muscle, well-proportioned.
Delivery: Simple start, modest hip high knee lift, uses athleticism well, in-line stride, firm plant, creates leverage, chest over front side, finishes well.
Arm Action: RH. Smooth arm action, clean out of glove, easy on way to high-3/4 slot, arm works with body tempo.
FB: T83, 80-82 mph. Can work both up and down in zone, occasional ride with flashes of arm side sink, late life comes from extension, usable fastball as the velo may climb.
SL: 70-71 mph. Traditional slider shape, flash some depth and late action off the plate, more lateral action than depth, modest spin but showed feel for the pitch.

Robert Vukcevich, Valley Christian (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Medium sized, proportional frame with long arms and legs and room for future physical growth.
Delivery: Replaces left foot in rocker, medium lift, sinks into backside, leaves rubber while still gathered, explosive hips, maintains body control while being aggressive with actions.
Arm Action: RH. Compact backside, quick arm, hides ball well, overhand slot, consistent arm swing.
FB: T84, 79-83 mph. Jumps on hitters with the deception, works up in zone effectively getting swings, minimal horizontal movement, around zone but can develop better control.
SL: 72-74 mph. Slippery breaker, smallish traditional slider break, minimal depth, slightly lower release than FB.
CH: 76-77 mph. Similar look to FB, straight change, showed feel, sells it with arm speed, usable pitch.

Christian Williams, Buchanan (CA), 2021
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-3, 165-pounds. Tall and rangy, lean body type, ample room for future size and strength.
Delivery: Simple rocker, modest medium knee lift, slides foot to 1B side of rubber, slight cross body stride, firm stable plant leg/foot, repeatable for a tall pitcher.
Arm Action: RH. Calm out of glove, some slight stab to knee depth, overhand slot, hints of projectable arm speed.
FB: T82, 80-82 mph. Strike throwing ability, confident usage, works down, mostly straight, starts bats and can get soft contact.
CB: 73 mph. Smaller slider-ish type break, flashes bite, spin shows some promise for development of this offering.
