A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Positional Profile: RHP Body: 6-0, 170-pounds. Athletic build, has lean muscle, well-proportioned. Delivery: Simple start, modest hip high knee lift, uses athleticism well, in-line stride, firm plant, creates leverage, chest over front side, finishes well. Arm Action: RH. Smooth arm action, clean out of glove, easy on way to high-3/4 slot, arm works with body tempo. FB: T83, 80-82 mph. Can work both up and down in zone, occasional ride with flashes of arm side sink, late life comes from extension, usable fastball as the velo may climb. SL: 70-71 mph. Traditional slider shape, flash some depth and late action off the plate, more lateral action than depth, modest spin but showed feel for the pitch.

Bay Area World Series 2020 (BAWS) - Uncommitted; Competed as 2-way player w/pitching ceiling/present ability showing stronger. Quick arm, good athlete, spins the FB well which allows for higher projection than the 84 mph he touched. Flashed offensive talent that can blossom in the coming years.

PBR Far North Preseason ID - FB 82-84, CB 72-73, CHG 75-76 One of a couple of standout two-way players at the Far North (CA) event, Van Dusen should make a name for himself this spring and following summer. At 6-foot-0, 160-pounds he's lean and strong, with athleticism to translate to the mound and the field. On the mound he displayed a clean, compact delivery with an overhand slot and good body control/release point. Both a 4-seam and 2-seam fastball, with hints of sink on the 2-seamer. Change-up is a quality offering, with good differential off the fastball and late life. Slider is more the curveball speed, with somewhat big slider break but he threw it with feel and some depth. Offensively has a loose easy stroke and ability to serve/spray the ball around. There is quite a bit of pre-pitch bat waggle and movement which can cause some barrel to ball inconsistencies for him. Developing more strength and working to stay behind the ball will enhance his future offensive talents.
