Preseason Preview: Cathedral Catholic Dons

PBR California Staff

New Episode LIVE now! At The Yard Podcast

COVID ended the 2020 season early throughout the State but as things progress quickly for the 2021 high school season, it’s time for us to preview teams from around the State in the Yearly Preseason Preview. Schedules are being adapted to fit the ever-changing landscape and though this season may look different than history has shown us, coaches/staff, players, families, and our team are preparing for 2021 to be as successful as possible.

We’ve submitted the Preseason Questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state and their responses have been flooding in. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be using their detailed insight on our team-by-team previews ahead of the 2021 season leading into the California Power 25 Rankings.

SEASON OUTLOOK:

Coach Remiker has built a solid program at Cathedral Catholic and the perennial San Diego power is looking to make the most out of his talent-rich 2021 team. With some more question marks than previous seasons, this Dons team will not go down quietly against the competition in the Western League. They bring back a couple of starters who have multiple years of experience and with an Ace at the front of the staff, the Dons are going to be counting on new arms to come in and fill out the rest of the staff behind him. The offensive lineup will have speed throughout and if opposing pitchers are thinking they can cruise through it, they’ll be challenged by guys who are willing to put together tough at-bats to get to the next guy. If this Dons team can come together as they’ve done before, the San Diego Division 1 opposing teams will regularly have Cathedral Catholic circled on the schedule.
