CIF-SS PLAYOFFS PREVIEW PODCAST

This week the San Diego Swing brings you a trifecta of junior left-handed starting pitchers that have been generating buzz throughout the county. Each pitcher brings a different skill set to the table in their six-foot frames, but each possess talent on the mound needed at the next level to go with offensive ability to contribute in their respective high school lineups. With the season coming to an end and each team in the playoff hunt each start is imperative to these aces.

It was a week of tracking down a few unseen guys while circling back on others I’ve seen already this spring. It also presented the opportunity to see University of San Diego commit Cole Colleran and his above-average command against Mission Hills, while uncommitted Joseph Ingrassia and his offspeed arsenal baffled the Santana lineup, before closing things out with uncommitted Kian Hogan who showed an overall package with potential against Classical Academy.

This in depth look pays special attention to statistics, showing an advanced look at exactly what their stats show in comparison to fellow headline 2020 left-handed starting pitchers in San Diego County.

2020 Cole Colleran Canyon Crest (San Diego, CA) LHP/OF is listed at 6-foot 185 pounds and is committed to the University of San Diego. Started on the mound and hit second vs Mission Hills. Mature look with a strong sturdy build and some room for added strength. Compact mechanics and a short arm swing in the back allow for deception and late pitch recognition. Arm speed in the front is quick and consistent. Holds runners well and has a good pickoff move which will help his transition to the college game.

Generates a slight hesitation in his leg lift which offsets timing and keeps his body under control but could be causing a present slight decrease in velocity....
