Our weekly Diamond Notes highlights players that were nominated by their coaches for Southern California Player of the Week award but narrowly missed out on that award. 

The following players had impressive performances during the week of March 19-25, and though not selected as the Player of the Week, they earned recognition. Players are listed in no particular order.

Alfonso Cano (Mira Costa HS) The senior RHP threw a complete game 2-hitter with 14ks against Sunnyside (Fresno) in a 4-0 Win.

Luke Lovett (LaVerne Lutheran HS): The senior threw a complete game 3-hitter losing the shutout in the 7th on an error. Lovett struck out 4 with no walks on 83 pitches.

Alex Smith (St. Margaret's HS) The uncommitted junior catcher/SS was 4-for-7, 2 doubles, HR, 5 RBI

Noah Carter (Cypress HS): The sophomore left fielder was 5-for-9 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI during the National Classic.

Tyler Chaffee (Cypress HS) -The junior RHP/1B was 5-for-11, with a double and a home run. He also threw a No Hitter vs Jordan

Elias Rios (Cypress HS): The junior centerfielder was 5-for-11 with 3 RBI. Also made an amazing catch to keep the No Hitter in tact for Chafee.

Josh Landry (Cypress HS): The senior LHP went the distance against Bishop Amat scattering 6 hits en route to a shutout.

Max Blessinger (Maranatha HS): The junior Dallas Baptist commit went 7-for-15 with 3 runs scored, 2 doubles, a triple, 2 RBI, and 5 stolen bases while playing in the IMG National Classic in Bradenton, FL.

Dawson Netz (Maranatha HS): The junior Arizona commit threw a complete game shutout, scattering 3 hits, striking out 8 and walking none in the IMG National Classic in Bradenton, FL.

Alex Pimentel (Villa Park HS): For the week, the junior was 4-for-11, with an RBI, 2 runs scored, and a stolen base.

Grady Tuohy (Villa Park HS): The senior was 4-for-11 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and 2 stolen bases on the week.

Garrett Deiro (Villa Park HS): For the week, the junior was 3-for-8 with a double an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base.

Tonio Ard (Villa Park HS): The junior 3-for-8 with a triple, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

Justin Roberto (Villa Park HS): The junior threw 6 innings scattering 8 hits, striking out 6 and allowing 1 earned run.

Jake Vogel (Huntington Beach HS): The sophomore USD commit was 7-for-9 wit 7 runs scored, 4 stolen bases, 3 RBI, and was hit by pitch 5 times. He got out twice the whole week in the Boras Classic.

Chris Wilson (Arcadia HS): The sophomore threw a complete game shutout with 8 strikeouts in a 3-0 win over Muir.

Caden Ross (Arcadia HS) The senior tossed a complete game 1 hit shutout while striking out 6 in a 9-0 win over Muir.

Dominick Tello (Arcadia HS): In three games, the junior went 5-for-9 with 5 RBI and 3 runs scored.

Austin Mowrey (La Jolla Country Day School): The senior went 8-for-9 last week with 5 runs scored, 2 RBI, 2 stolen bases, a double, and a triple.

Josh Valencia (La Habra HS) The senior threw a complete game shutout while scattering 6 hits, striking out 2, on only 68 pitches.

Ricky Akles (La Habra HS): The senior outfielder was 5-for-6, with an RBI and 2 walks on the week.

David Shackelford (La Habra): The freshman OF/RHP was 5-for-7 with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.

Eric Navarette (Silverado HS): The sophomore P/CF threw a 5 inning perfect game while striking out 12. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Caden Szuba (Temescal Canyon HS) The sophomore went 7-for-10 with 3 doubles, 3 runs scored, 2 walks, a stolen base and drove in 4 RBIs in the Don Lugo Tournament.

Jorge Centeno (Santa Fe HS): The shortstop went 6-for-9 with a double, 5 runs scored, 4 RBI, 2 stolen bases, and a walk. 

Josiah Chavez (Hoover HS): In only his 2nd game of the season, Chaves was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.He also pitched 4 innings giving up 3 unearned runs. .

Dawson Dimon (Quartz Hill HS) 4-8, 2 runs, 2 RBIs double.
