2018 RHP Jake Spillane (Mission Viejo HS) has been named this week's Prep Baseball Report SoCal Player of the Week thanks to his outstanding performance on the mound in the first round of the National Classic for the Mission Viejo Diablos..

Mission Viejo entered the 2018 National Classic on a four game win streak due in large part to quality pitching. Spillane wanted to make sure he did his part in the opening round to keep that going.

Spillane, a UC Davis signee, pitched a perfect game in the opening round game against Bingham of Utah who at the time was ranked in the Top 10 in their state. Spillane struck out 13 hitters on 70 pitches, 55 of which were strikes. The Diablos needed each and every one of them as they won 1-0. For the season Spillane is 4-1 with a 1.17 ERA, 40 K, 6 BB, 6 ER in 36 IP.

For his efforts, Spillane has been named the Prep Baseball Report SoCal Player of the Week for the week of April 2 - April 8.

The Prep Baseball Report salutes Spillane’s hard work and success.
