THE FIVE: Uncommitted 2020 Infielders - N. California

As we've said previously, one particular position is always a priority for college programs, and that is shortstop. Generally speaking that's because shortstops at the high school level are a team's best athlete. Not all will stay at shortstop beyond high school, obviously, but their athleticism and tools frequently often translate to other positions; 2nd base, 3rd base, centerfield, catcher, pitcher, etc.

Given how many former shortstops are in the game at different positions, at both the college and pro levels, the position will always be among the most highly recruited.

Below is a look at five infielders we feel will have an opportunity to play baseball at the collegiate level. Four of the following players attended our Central Coast Open Showcase last October and put themselves on the recruiting map (as will also happen for those who attend the Central Valley Preseason I.D.).

Please take a look at Trevor Leon, Luke Keaschall, Justin Deal, Benjamin Pajas, and Vinnie Bachelier.
