In a series of posts for The Five, we will take a look at groups of players who are attending the 10/6/19 Northern California Uncommitted Senior Games at College of Marin. Today we start with five middle infielders we've previously seen at various events/games during 2019.

QUICK TAKE

In the times we've seen Lewis, the tool that most routinely stands out is his bat speed. He's a left-handed hitter with a flat, whippy, lively swing, with the ability to get to velocity and to spray the ball to all fields. The exit velocities we've gathered from him haven't quite yet translated to his raw bat speed but given time and future development, they will. Defensively he is versatile and looks most likely to best develop at 2nd base and/or centerfield. Ultimately he's a dream for a program that thrives based on it's ability to develop talent/tools into players.

quick take

Having seen Keaschall multiple times, both in event settings and games, we continue to be excited about his future at the college level. He's one of the more polished and athletic shortstops remaining on the market in the 2020 class in this region. He does everything with focus and tenacity, while having the ability to let his athleticism play. Soft/confident hands in the field, quick first step/release, enough arm to play SS, quick hands at the plate, above average speed down the line and around the bases, Keaschall has a lot to offer as a college prospect.

quick take

Robillard is, in the most complimentary way, the type of player not always noticed in just one look, maybe even two. He plays clean defense with playable tools, has a swing that works vs a variety of pitches (indicates that he doesn't just work on hitting grooved pitches in the cage), and he isn't yet as physical a he will be down the road. There are peers at his position who have bigger present day tools, but Robillard plays with a level of polish and calm, with enough projectability of his tools/body, to suggest he will develop well beyond many of those peers.

quick take

Leon has the ability and skills to play defense at a high level at the shortstop position. He also has the body type and physical projectability to dream on what still may lie ahead. The arm plays, the feet are clean, and his glove is soft. Showcase videos show a measured defensive style but we've seen his tools and skills show up at game speed. The part of his game that is still a work in progress is offense. We've seen his exit velocities increase steadily and his set-up and swing type are evolving as he works to gain the interest of college programs. When/if the offense shows up, there is a college program that will be happy they gave him a shot.

QUICK TAKE

Anteneh first drew our attention in the fall of 2018 at a tournament in Stockton. He played the game with energy and instincts that are easy to be drawn to, especially being a switch-hitting shortstop. He's got a ways to go physically but there are underlying talents and skills that are already present. Defensively he plays low, to and through the ball, and with light feet and a quick release he plays above his raw arm. Offensively we have seen his exit velocities increase and at his best, shoot the ball the other way as a left-handed hitter. There are still offensive gains to make, but for those looking for a switch-hitting middle infielder, keep an eye on Anteneh.
