Updated PBR Colorado 2018 Rankings

John Cackowski
State Director

In the fall of 2014 PBR Colorado released our first ever 2015, 2016, and 2017 rankings. In the past two years Prep Baseball Report Colorado has had the opportunity to cover amateur baseball like no other organization has ever been able to do before in the state of Colorado. Between scouting numerous games  and recently having a great opportunity to see more 2018 grads at the Top Prospect Games, scouting summer and  fall baseball games,  we have been able to move our 2018 rankings from 70 to 100. These rankings will for sure grow and change as we get out to watch more players in games this fall, next spring, and of course at our events.  Our next big 2018 rankings update will be posted after our Preseason All-State in February, however there will be some players who might move up and down the board as we see them this fall.

Making a big rise to No.1 2018 is RHP Cole Winn of Silver Creek. 6-foot-1, 170 pounds. The Notre Dame commit was really impressive at our Top Prospect Games on August 6th and 7th, and also showed very well in last June's Junior Sunbelt Tournament for Team Colorado. Since last rankings, Winn's fastball has improved from 87-88 to an explosive 92 mph on multiple occassions at the Top Prospect Games, living at 90-91. Arm is loose and works extremely well with rest of his body. With his body and frame he projects to plus 95 mph easily. Armed with a wipeout slider at 76 mph with depth. Expect Winn to move up in the overall rankings as well.

Coming in at No. 2 is OF Tanner O'Tremba of Cherry Creek HS. 6-foot, 210 pounds. Bats and throws right. O'Tremba has held the No. 1 spot for over a year, and falls one spot due to Winn's 92 mph fastball. O'Tremba is one of the best players in Colorado who always produces in games, and has freakish athletic skills. O'Tremba has reached a 97 mph exit velo with us off a tee, and in CF ranges very well, and has a plus arm from the OF. O'Tremba ran a 6.9 laser timed 60 at the Top Prospect Games, and we have had under 6.9 before. Looks and plays like a full back. Last spring O'Tremba was an offensive force for Cherry Creek carrying the Bruins to the 5A Final 8. O'Tremba batted .493 with 6 homeruns, and 34 RBI's to go along with 9 doubles and 11 stolen bases last spring. Expect him to also toe the rubber again in 2017 after sitting out last spring with some shoulder soreness. We have had O'Tremba up to 88 mph on the mound.

Staying at No. 3 in our rankings is 1B/LHP Justin Olson of Pine Creek. 6-foot-2, 200 pounds. Bats and throws left. The Kentucky commit has been tearing up high school pitchers since his freshman year. Olson has advanced power potential. He stands in a slight crouch at the plate, and has no problem turning on any inside fastball. Recently in our Atkinson Memorial Tournament he went on a three game run in which he drove in 10 runs in the first 15 innings, highlighted by a 400 foot plus 3-run bomb to right center. At the Top Prospect Games Olson showed well with an 89 mph exit velo off the tee, and on the mound showcasing an 82 mph arm with a nasty CB with 1/7 sharp tilt at 71 mph.

Coming in at No. 4 is ASU commit C Luke Leisenring of Ralston Valley. The 6-foot-3, 185 pound switch hitting catcher has a ton of projectibility. At the plate has an open stance with slight crouch. Hands are loose and ready to get out in front to be on time. Has gap to gap power from both sides of the plate. In Atkinson Memorial we had Leisenring at a 1.9 in game pop-time off pitcher. Extremely impressive catch and throw receiver, plus left-handed. Swing works well. To see video Click Here.
