ROSTER PREVIEW

Gavin Carcelen SS / RHP / Los Osos High, CA / 2029

From 1/11/26: "Carcelen has made noticeable strides both physically and on the field since the Junior Future Games back in July, and the progress was evident throughout this showing. After growing an inch and adding 10 pounds, Carcelen now checks in at 6-0, 161 pounds, and the added strength is clearly translating. Offensively, his exit velocity climbed to 91 mph, working with a consistent line-drive approach, and he squared up the baseball twice in live game action. On the mound is where Carcelen really stood out. His fastball sat 79-81 mph with the ability to command it to the glove side, and the high spin rates (2100-2200+) paired with his projectable, wiry frame point toward future velocity gains. He recorded three strikeouts against five batters, relying heavily on his secondary offerings, highlighted by a curveball at 66-69 mph that showed slurve-like action and comfort using it in any count. Continued strength gains should be a key focus moving forward, though part of that development is likely to come naturally as he matures. For a freshman in attendance, Carcelen more than held his own and is clearly trending upward as he heads into his first high school season."

Rhett Lopez SS / RHP / Centennial High, CA / 2029

From 5/20/25: "Lopez was a standout at the IE Rising Stars ID and nothing changed at the Rising Stars Game. A two-way standout, Lopez flashes legitimate shortstop tools with fast, soft hands with an above average arm (84 mph) with throws that flash carry. He also worked out in the outfield where the arm was just as good and accurate with a best throw at 82 mph. In the game he was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a 2 RBI single. There’s sneaky power in his game overall, but at the dish it was loud contact where he flashes feel for the barrel while keeping it in the zone for a long time through to contact. On the mound he retired four of the five hitters he faced that included a strikeout on a nasty slider while also showing excellent instincts on a soft chopper in front of the plate where he called off the catcher and threw a dart to first to get the runner that ran a 4.52 home-to-first."

Grant Thomas 1B / RHP / Rancho Cucamonga High, CA / 2027
