SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - Last weekend was the 4th annual SoCal Underclass Top Prospects Games, the premier underclass invite-only event in California, hosted at Cunningham Stadium on the beautiful campus of the University of San Diego. This event brought together top players from the '27-'28 classes together in one location to conclude the summer schedule around the southern California area.

The collection of talent that was on display in San Diego was quite impressive. The event started with a pro-style workout for all position players/two-way players in attendance. Players received athletic testing on the Swift platforms including 10-30-60 yard sprint times and RSI/Vertical Jump testing. Blast Motion sensors were in use for all batting practice swings to collect swing metric data while Trackman technologies provided the Prep Baseball California staff with batted ball data on each player throughout the batting practice portion, and pitchers during gameplay.

Additionally, players worked out at their positions during the defensive portion of the workout to collect arm strength velocities while evaluating actions of each player defensively. At the conclusion of the workout, players were split into teams by the Prep Baseball California staff, and would play a 13 inning simulated game to give our staff an extensive opportunity to continue to build their in-game evaluations of the players in attendance.

Prep Baseball Report events across the country have been powered by Swift Performance industry-leading portable system to capture pinpoint accurate, actionable data from player performances as it pertains to speed and athletic testing. Prep Baseball Report and Swift Labs are dedicated to recognizing talent and unleashing their potential.

At the event all participants are tested on the Swift Performance EZE JUMP to measure RSI and vertical jump allowing glimpses into the players current athleticism. The sequencing of the test varies based on what is being administered. In addition to the jumpmat, position players were put through a laser timed 60 yard dash. Also measured using Swift Labs state of the art laser system were 10 and 30 yard splits providing further insight into current athleticism and potential.

This data goes directly into the player profiles allowing the Prep Baseball Staff, college coaches and professional scouts alike to evaluate and compare prospects on a national scale.

Below are categorical leaders in the various athletic testing components measured at the recent SoCal Underclass Top Prospects Games.
