Ventura, Calif. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as we have begun the 2024-2025 school year and the looming JR. High School baseball season for our '26 class. With than in mind Prep Baseball California will be highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '26 athletes. The player featured today is one of the top players in the state of California and figures prominently in our Class of 2026 Rankings. All players featured within our Uncommitted Spotlight series are ones that college coaches and fans should be keeping their eyes on over the coming months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on the number 98 ranked player in the 2026 class in SoCal '26 C Derrick Roberston from San Juan Hills High School. With an athletic frame at 6'1 180 lbs. with some present strength to it. His athleticism is solid and has run a 7.15 60 time with 18.8 MPH max run speed to go with his 27.1" vertical jump. Roberston has showed well at a variety of Prep Baseball California events including our recent CA State Games. He has displayed his defensive ability to stay behind the plate that goes with offensive intrigue.

During the workout portions of our Prep Baseball California events Roberston has shown the present actions in his receiving, arm strength and accuracy to potentially stay behind the dish including 73 MPH C arm velocity with a low of 2.02 on his pop times. While his defensive ability at a premium spot is interesting Robertson has consistently displayed a quality toolset on the offensive side in his RH hitting profile. His swing shows well from a simple operation with a small front foot stride, quiet hand load and balance in his turn. Blast Motion metrics are solid across the board with hand speed (21.6 MPH) bat speed (70.7 MPH) and torque from his turn (18.1 G's of Rotational Acceleration). Robertson translates his quality swing into a good approach which has performed well during batting practice including the ability to produce hard contact with a peak EV at 97.1 MPH with a 85.2 MPH average EV, 77% Sweet Spot rate out of his flatter swing that averages around 60% Fly ball/line drive rates.

As he prepares for his JR. campaign at San Juan Hills where he figures to compete for a prominent role within their lineup as well as behind the plate against the competitive High School baseball circuit across Southern California that will help to keep the up arrow signs for Robertson.
