We would like to thank all who participated in The PBR New England 2020 Scout Day: Swanson Baseball. This was a great opportunity for 2020-2025 prospects to be put on college recruiting boards. Many players impressed during their individual workouts at the showcase.

2020 Scout Day: Swanson Baseball - Quick Hits

The Bats

  • Tyler Rice- A left-handed hitter, barrel has life, hands are inside the baseball, sprays it all over the yard, plus runner at 6.97 sixty, a fast twitch athlete. Showed well in both spots defensively.
  • Ryan Delaney- A right-handed hitter, lower hand set, very quiet, short to the baseball, above average pop for his age, 88 mph off the bat.
  • Ben Schulz- A left-handed hitter, can handle the bat, line drive swing, hard contact in batting practice.
  • Jamie Palmese- A right-handed hitter, big time athlete, ran a 6.53 sixty, swing is short to contact, baseball jumps off the bat.
  • Jayden Cumbo- A right-handed hitter, balanced with even feet, hands are loose, work freely through the zone, showing plus power to the pull side, moves well for a bigger kid.
  • Patrick Lukens- A right-handed hitter, stays on the backside, good lower half is balanced, lift and loft to pull side, hard contact in both batting practice and in game play.
  • Daniel Orzech- A right-handed hitter, smooth swing, all fields approach, 90 mph off the bat, can really pick it defensively, showing plus turns on the second base side.

The Arms

  • Chase Swain- A left-handed pitcher, up to 83 mph, arm works clean from a higher slot, pitches down hill, hard breaking ball, trending upward.
  • James Ellis- A left-handed pitcher, strong durable frame, fastball touched 82 mph, throws a heavy ball, slurvey slider at 71 mph, outing was clean.
  • Connor Gileau- A right-handed pitcher, is super aggressive, works very quick, attacks, longer arm swing, lives in the bottom of the zone, fastball clocked at 85 mph, with a hard late slider at 73 mph. Can pitch now at next level, can get outs.
  • Phineas Scott- A left-handed pitcher, longer lean athletic frame at 6-foot-3, fastball up to 81 mph, with a ton more in there, repeats the delivery, arm and body work with minimal effort. Pounded the zone with a solid 3-pitch mix, look for big things from this one.
  • Neftali Parache- A right-handed pitcher, up to 87-88 mph, this was after defensive workout and catching 4+ innings. The arm is clean on the backside, working out of a higher slot, drills the 4-seamer to the outer half. The breaking ball reached 72 mph, proper spin and tilt. Big time follow for the class of 2021.
