2022 FL Preseason All-State: Team Blue Analysis

The 2022 FL Preseason All-State took place Saturday, January 22th and Sunday, January 23rd at Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford, FL. The two day event featured players from the 2022-2026 classes participating in a batting practice on day one followed by a pro-style workout and gameplay on day two in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff.

Team Blue Analysis
Sean Ashenfelder SS / C / Creekside, FL / 20256-foot-1, 165-pound lean athletic build. Solid during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 83 mph. (66.1 mph bat speed average). (19.5 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth compact load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is quick, has a short swing plane and balanced finish. Was able to create loud contact and found some barrels. Line drive approach. While in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 73 mph. Behind the plate, throw downs to second topped out at 70 mph; has a quick transfer, consistent hands, and smooth feet. he produced a pop time of 2.26-2.36. A lot of flexibility and athletic setup. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a short arm action with a ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.35. |
Frank Avila 2B / SS / Riviera Prep, FL / 20245-foot-9, 145-pound lean athletic build. Solid in the box, Avila had a max exit velocity of 80 mph. (60.8 mph bat speed average). (19.3 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced stance with a slow controlled load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is efficient, shows a short swing plane and high finish. Produced some loud contact and found some barrels. Line drive approach. Solid in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 80 mph; had soft consistent hands, athletic footwork, and a clean exchange. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Decent accuracy to the bag, used a short arm action with a ¾ slot. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.91. |
