PBR Florida ProCase Event Preview

By Doug Freeman and Mike Maerz

The first year of the Florida ProCase featured players that will have a chance to see their name called in the upcoming June MLB Draft such as Sam McMillan, Freddy Tarnok, Tim Elko, Graham Hoffman and many others. Some of these players were well known coming into last year's ProCase and others saw their stock rise throughout the summer, fall and spring. This years event is no different. One of the more intimate events we run, it gives our staff an opportunity to evaluate and get to know players such as Florida's No. 1 2018 Mason Denaburg as well as a host of other talented players alike. Below is the full roster for tomorrow's event as well as a brief breakdown of what you can expect.

He also has a slider at 75-76 mph and a changeup at 82-83 mph. At the plate he shows good rhythm in his setup with a balanced, level swing with very quick hands through the zone. The ball jumps off the bat and is consistently on time, driving the ball into both gaps.

Cort Roedig RHP / Dr. Phillips, FL / 2018

Georgia Tech recruit. The high-waisted 6-foot-2, 175 pounder shows a lot of potential with a clean arm action and strong front side. The fastball ranges from 88-90 mph with some late arm side life that works down in the zone. He also displays a tight, two-plane slider at 75-77 mph and a feel for a quality changeup at 80-81 mph.

Luca Tresh C / OF / Clearwater Central Catholic, FL / 2018

North Carolina State recruit. Currently stands at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds with a strong, athletic build. Jordan Lala OF / Steinbrenner, FL / 2018

Miami recruit. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 176 pounds with a lean and athletic frame with wiry strength. Has loose, easy actions and good instincts all over the field. Above average runner who gets good jumps on the base paths and in the outfield.

Roberto Pena 3B / RHP / Flanagan, FL / 2018

Florida recruit. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds with a strong lower half and solid, athletic build. Confident, calm approach at the plate with above average bat speed and quick hands through the zone. Generates power with good use of his lower half as he displays the ability to drive the ball out of the park not only on the pull side, but over the right-center field wall as well. Consistently finds the barrel and makes hard contact. Shows good patience and awareness of the strike zone. On the mound Pena displays a quick arm with a simple delivery. Fastball mostly sits in the 88-92 mph range with plenty of movement along with a slider at 77-79 mph.

Justin Stewart RHP / 1B / Bartow, FL / 2018

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 215 pounds with a big, strong frame and a strong lower half. Stewart works mostly at 87-90 mph with his fastball that shows late life. He also mixes in a 72-74 mph curveball with quality shape.

Pablo Garabitos OF / LHP / Lakewood Ranch, FL / 2018

South Florida recruit. Stands at 6-foot, 160 pounds with a live, athletic, projectable build. On the mound that fastball ranges from 83-85 mph along with a curveball at 71-73 mph. Clean and easy ¾ arm action. He shows a feel for pitching working with a good pace and staying down in the zone to both sides of the plate.

Tyler Isenberg SS / RHP / Trinity Christian Academy, FL / 2018

Arkansas recruit. Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 178 pounds. In the field, Isenberg displays the ability to field the ball cleanly and make accurate throws across the diamond. Gap to gap power at the plate with good bat speed. On the mound he has quick arm showcasing a fastball that sits 86-89 mph, touching 90 with some life while mixing in a hard slider with depth at 77-79 mph.

Cameron Stewart RHP / Apopka, FL / 2018

Troy recruit. The 6-foot-4, 215 pounder has made big strides in the past few months. He has leaned out and the shoulder action has become much cleaner resulting in a jump in velocity. The fastball sits at 85-88 mph with heavy, late life. As he continues to improve and consistently get extended the velocity should jump again. He also shows a curveball at 71-72 mph and a feel for a straight changeup at 79-80 mph.

Andres Antonini SS / 2B / St Thomas Aquinas, FL / 2018

Pittsburgh recruit. The athletic switch hitter at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds has  really shown a feel for the barrel, especially from the left side. With a simple setup and load, he is short through the zone and shows gap-to-gap power. He also shows above average defensive actions. He has a feel for the position, bouncing around and always in the right place. He has above average hands and shows plenty of arm, topping at 88 mph to stay at short. He has the frame and tool as well as being a switch hitter to project at the next level.

Judson Fabian OF / LHP / Trinity Catholic, FL / 2019

Florida recruit. Stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds with a projectable, athletic build. Continues to show a confident, comfortable approach at the plate. Stays balanced in the box and keeps his weight on his back leg to adjust to off-speed pitches. Shows good hand eye coordination with quick hands and above average bat speed through the zone. Stays aggressive on the base paths, and shows good range while playing centerfield.

Stephen Wilmer OF / LHP / Riverview (Sarasota), FL / 2018

East Carolina recruit. On the mound his fastball ranges from 83-84 mph with more in the tank and curveball at 65-67 mph. Two-way player with some value for an inning stint out of the pen or perhaps a lefty on lefty matchup. Sound mechanics, got over his front side allowing for good extension and repeatability on pitches. Arm quickness and strength. The switch hitter is equally as impressive offensively. From both sides of the plate he has a short, simple swing and has a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap power from both sides. A very simple swing that really eliminates a lot of swing and miss.

Tony Becker RHP / Creekside, FL / 2018

Uncommitted. The 6-foot-4, 195 pounder has a tall, lean, strong and projectable frame. From a long low ¾ slot, he tends to land slightly closed creating a crossfire delivery. Has rhythm in delivery with long whippy arm action. Fastball both sinks and cuts, but has late action with extension at 85-86 mph. Shows an above average, sharp two-plane slider at 75-77 with the potential to be a plus out pitch. Overall he shows a lot of upside and strength. As he continues to clean up the delivery and improve on consistent extension and release point the velocity should make a jump.

Brendan Bell RHP / 3B / Park Vista Community , FL / 2018

Florida Gulf Coast recruit. Currently stands at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds with a quick arm from a 3/4 slot. The fastball ranges from 87-88 mph, touching 90 with some arm side run along with a slider at 78-79 mph. The right handed hitter also shows a level swing with a good path through the zone.

Logan Keller SS / 3B / Lake Brantley, FL / 2019

Alabama recruit. The high waisted 6-foot-1, 170 pounder has really continued to refine an impressive toolset. Long and athletic with a fluent set-up. He has shown flashes of power in the past, but he is consistently driving the ball with more authority.  Also displays strong actions in the infield and really projects to fill out and be an above average defender.

Justin Farmer OF / RHP / Riverview, FL / 2017

Florida recruit. 6-foot-1, 190 pounder with a lean, athletic build on a live body. At the plate he has a slightly open stance with a high hand set and a leg kick for rhythm and timing. Above average bat speed and quick hands through the zone allows him hit hard line drives while with some pull side pop. When he sits back and stays balanced in his lower half, he can drive the ball deep into the gaps for extra base hits. Aggressive runner on the base paths. Displays athleticism, range, and quick first step to the ball in the outfield.

Matthew Golda SS / 2B / Inspiration Academy, FL / 2017

Florida Atlantic recruit. 6-foot, 185 pounder with a solid, athletic build. Displayed good hands, charges the ball, and a quick release while playing short and third base. He has enough arms and advanced enough actions to stick at short, but shows the ability to be a plus defender anywhere in the infield. Offensively, he shows the ability to have feel for the barrel and there is some present bat speed. He is athletic enough to make some adjustments and really make a big jump.

Brant Brown RHP / Venice, FL / 2018

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-4, 175 pounds with a lean, long, projectable build. Still plenty of room to fill out. Throws of the ¾ arm slot with a fluid, repeatable delivery with a big leg kick and lands out in front. Fastball mostly sits at 86-87 mph with life along with a 70-72 mph slider that is tight and shows depth.

Joey Kinker 1B / C / Venice, FL / 2018

Uncommitted. Currently stands at 6-foot-2, 220 pounds. Physical, solid build with a good lower half and strength in his hands and forearms. Higher hand set with a small step for his load at the plate. Swing is direct and to the ball, keeps his hands inside and can drive it with authority. Ball comes off the bat hard. Plays sound defense at first.

Jonathan Alonso 1B / OF / Northside Christian, FL / 2018

Uncommitted. The 6-foot-2, 205 pounder has a strong lower half with  a quick, short swing through the zone with an aggressive, mostly pull side approach. Frequently squares up the baseball gap-to-gap and showed some above average hand eye coordination. As he learns to create a little more rhythm and stay on time more consistently the present strength should turn into some above average power for his class as the bat speed and strong lower half already is present.

Isaac Nunez SS / 2B / Lake Brantley, FL / 2019

Florida recruit. Stands at 6-foot, 175 pounds with all around impressive tools. Defensively he has plus defensive actions with good footwork, a quick first step, and works confidently and under control to the baseball. His hands also work very well with a plus arm from short. Offensively, he shows an advanced approach with plus speed. He can get a little long at times, but shows an advanced feel for the barrel and will continue to get better with more at-bats.

Robby Martin OF / RHP / Jefferson, FL / 2018

Athletic outfielder with big power potential. Martin led his Jefferson High Shcool team with a .420 BA, 9 HR, 44 RBI while only striking out 11 times in 81 ABs.

Tyler Callihan SS / 3B / Providence, FL / 2019

South Carolina recruit, still growing physically, but his swing already shows above average power. He showed the ability to also be an above average defender at third and short. The athletic infielder has a lot of upside and a high ceiling.
