2019 Catchers to JUMP ON:

Tyler Blittersdorf C / OF / John Carroll, MD / 2019

Blittersdorf hits from a wider base, is short to the ball, and shows signs of power at the plate. He had a tendency to get under the ball during BP but squared a few up during the game and really has a nice swing from the left side. Behind the plate, Blittersdorf showed a quick exchange and accuracy on his throws to second base. Solid 2019 catching prospect with a big bat from the left side.

Lane Gay C / 1B / Saint James, MD / 2019

Gay is another interesting left handed hitting uncommitted 2019 catching prospect. At the plate, Gay is more of a line drive type hitter with a level swing path and showed occasional power (91 mph Exit Velo). Behind the dish, Gay showed a quick exchange and accurate throws to second base posting a 2.09 best pop and 75 mph velo.

Joe Mozingo C / 3B / Huntingtown, MD / 2019

Mozingo gets good separation in his load at the plate and stays behind the ball well. He is short and quick to the ball and shows some explosiveness in the swing at times. As Mozingo continues to incorporate his lower half more into his explosive swing at times, his power number should continue to increase. Mozingo is a 2.08 - 2.14 pop and 74 mph velo. He was on the money on three of his five throws to second base.

2020 Catchers to KNOW:

Christian Ficca C / OF / Gonzaga College, MD / 2020

Ficca has one of the more projectable frames of the event. At 6’3’’ 180 lbs., the left handed hitting catcher had a very nice Top Prospect Games. Ficca shows nice rhythm at the plate and remained quiet and balanced throughout his swing. He stays behind the ball well and his occasional power now should really project as he puts on more weight. Behind the plate, Ficca is quiet and receives the ball well. He threw an event best 1.91 pop during the workout and ranged from 1.91 to 2.13 on his five throws. There is a lot to like about Ficca and surely he won’t be uncommitted for long.

Charles Hafer OF / C / John Carroll, MD / 2020

Hafer had a nice Top Prospect Games behind the plate as well. Offensively, the ball just jumps off his bat. He has a more compact explosive swing and quick hands. Hafer smoked a double during the game and sent one to the warning track for a long, loud out. Defensively, Hafer was both quick and accurate on his pops posting a 2.04, 2.06 and ranging to a 2.19. He is a more physical backstop at 6’0’’ 200 lbs. and has a bright future. Hafer also shows the ability to play corner outfield making him a versatile 2020 prospect.

Zachary Geesaman C / 3B / Atholton, MD / 2020

Another projectable body catcher was 6’0’’ 175 lb. Zachary Geesaman from Atholton High School in Howard County. Geesaman threw an average pop time of 2.05 in his five throws and hit the ball hard all three times up to the plate during the game. He displayed some power during BP and posted one of the top exit velos at 94 mph of the event. Another versatile player who can also play third base, Geesaman will be an interesting player to watch as he continues to grow into his body and get stronger. Expect to hear a lot more from Geesaman in the future.

2021 Catchers to WATCH:

Brandon M Bradshaw C / RHP / CH Flowers, MD / 2021

Brandon M. Bradshaw arguably had all-around the best day at the plate going 3-3 with three smoked line drives on the day. Bradshaw is short and quick to the ball and really whips the bat through the zone. He demonstrated the ability to hit the ball to all fields and turned nicely on a few pitches. Bradshaw showed a good exchange throwing and average pop of 2.15. Keep an eye on Bradshaw as he continues to develop behind the plate. He also pitches and will be an interesting prospect to keep tabs on from the 2021 class.

2019 Pitchers to JUMP ON:

Gabe Delgado RHP / OF / Howard, MD / 2019

Delgado has good rhythm and gets long throwing from a high ¾ arm slot. A projectable frame at 6’2’’ 175 lbs, Delgado sat 79-82 on the day with good arm side run. Delgado had a solid outing mixing in a breaking ball at 68-72 with 12/6 shape and a 69-72 mph change-up that fell off the table. Expect to see a velo jump here as he continues to get stronger.

Pete Marchineck LHP / 1B / Calvert Hall , MD / 2019

The lefty has a great frame at 6’5’’ 205 lbs. and topped out at 85 mph. He was very effective during his two inning outing mixing in a sweeping 66-68 mph breaking ball and 68-69 mph change-up. Marchineck is very deceptive with his short arm action and easy release. His fastball sat 82-84 with run and there is more in the tank as he continues to fill out. Marchineck won’t be on the board long so jump on this lefty before it’s too late.

Zach Powers RHP / Archbishop Spalding, MD / 2019

Powers sat 81-82 topping out at 84 mph on a fastball with excellent movement. Very projectable frame at 6’5’’ 185 lbs. Powers has a very deliberate delivery getting to a good balance and pitches with little effort. He is long and loose throwing from a high ¾ arm slot. His breaking ball was 68-71 with 12/6 and 11/5 shape and showed a 73 mph split and 73 mph slider.

Quick Hits: Ryan Terrents: The University of Towson commit Terrents pitches downhill and sat 83-84 topping out at 85 mph with a sharpe late breaking 11/5 72-73 mph curveball and a 74-75 mph change-up. At 6’3’’ 190 lbs there is much more in the tank.

2020 Pitchers to KNOW:

Evan Lewis RHP / 2B / Severna Park, MD / 2020

Lewis topped out at 88 mph at last weeks Top Prospect games and sat 85-86 with decent run and some effort. Lewis featured a sharp 12/6 breaking ball and 71-76 mph slider. Lewis is smooth and works with good tempo. His arm is loose and throws with good arm speed from a ¾ arm slot. At 6’0’’ 170 lbs., Lewis is one of the top 2020 arms in the state and will certainly be a guy to keep a close eye on as he continues to make strides on the mound.

Mason Levin RHP / Walt Whitman, MD / 2020

Levin has good rhythm and tempo on the mound and gets to a good balance position. He gets long and whips his arm through pitching with some effort. Levin sat 82-84 topping out at 85 mph in his two innings of work. He features a sharp 12/6 breaking ball at 69-71 mph to go along with a 76-78 mph change-up and showed a 69-70 mph slider. Good frame at 6’1’’ 180 lbs. Levin will be an interesting RHP prospect to follow as he continues to grow and develop.

Jake Gelof: Gelof sat 86-86 mph topping out at 88 mph with a tight 12/6 73-74 mph breaking ball and a 81 mph change-up. His delivery is smooth and balanced and throws with a longer high ¾ arm action and slot with some effort.

2021 Pitchers to WATCH:

Evan Selmer RHP / 3B / Indian Creek, MD / 2021

Selmer struggled to locate at times Tuesday but showed good stuff and has a very projectable frame at 6’1’’ 175 lbs. He sat 80-83 mph throughout his two inning outing and has an up-tempo delivery. Selmer has a quick arm which should translate to a jump in the velo moving forward as he develops. He also threw a 67-69 mph breaking ball with 12/6 shape and gradual break and a 71-72 mph change-up.

Adam Watkins RHP / 1B / Brunswick, MD / 2021

Watkins has a big body at 6’6’’ 230 lbs. He sat 78-80 with cut topping out at 83 mph in two innings of work at the Top Prospect Games. Watkins pitches downhill and also featured a gradual 12/6 breaking ball at 63-65 mph and a 76-77 mph change-up with fade. There is a lot to like and more in the tank as he continues to use his lower half more. Another great prospect to watch grow on the mound in the 2021 class.
