PBR Georgia Player of the Week: LHP Carter Holton & OF Jaiden Stowers

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

We are off and running in the 2021 season. Week 2 featured great weather and a ton of games being played across the state. This week's Pitcher of the Week is awarded to a very familiar face, LHP Carter Holton (Benedictine; Vanderbilt), and the Position Player of the Week goes to OF Jaiden Stowers (Hebron Christian; Berry College Football).

This is the third time that Holton takes home the honors of Pitcher of the Week. He did so in back-to-back weeks to start the 20202 season. Now he does it once again with a big performance on mound. On Friday night, Holton tossed a complete game against Richmond Hill, allowing one hit, one unearned run, striking out 17 and walking none in route to a 3-1 victory.

The Hitter of the Week, Stowers, helped lead Hebron Christian to a 3-0 week. The Lions pulled off a huge upset over 7A Mountain View to begin the week, winning the game 17-9. Stowers went 3-for-3 with two walks, one RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases. He followed that up by going 1-for-3 with two walks, three runs scored and two stolen bases in a 15-5 win over Eagle's Landing Christian. Stowers finished the week off by hitting walk-off single to defeat North Cobb Christian 6-5. In the game, he went 3-for-4, with one walk, one run scored, one RBI and one stolen base. For the week Stowers' line read: .700 BA, .800 OBP, 1.700 OPS, 6 1B, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 7 R, 5 BB, 5/5 SB. He reached base in 9 straight plate appearances dating back to Feb. 20 game vs St. Anne Pacelli, including each AB at Mountain View and into his first two ABs vs. ECLA.
