PBR Georgia Player of the Week: LHP/1B Carter Holton

Phil Kerber
Georgia Scouting Director

Our Week 8 player of the week achieves a feat that has not been done since we started to hand out the award to a pitcher and a position player. LHP/1B Carter Holton (Benedictine; Vanderbilt) takes home pitcher of the week honors for the third time this season and claims hitter of the week for the first time.  This makes him the first player to be awarded both honors in the same week.

How did he do it? Holton tossed a six inning no-hitter against Morgan County, helping the Cadets to a 10-0 victory. For his efforts, Holton went 6.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 14 K. Holton has been putting up video game numbers all season long on the mound, and will be one of the front runners for Player of the Year. At the plate, Holton went 7-for-11 with a 2B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, BB. On the week Benedictine went 2-1, dropping a game to Ware County 5-3, while defeating New Hampstead 13-0 and Morgan County 10-0.
