No. 1 Lincoln-Way North 10, TF South 2
Lincoln-Way North (7-0) rolled past TF South behind Creighton-bound SS Kevin Smith. Smith had a perfect 3-for-3 afternoon with three runs scored and two driven in. Senior Josh Reid had two hits and two RBI while Oakton Community-bound CF Corey Krupske doubled home a pair for the Phoenix. Sophomore LHP Kyle Ostrowski (2-0) allowed no earned runs, four hits and struck out eight in his game-winning performance.

No. 2 St. Rita 7, No. 20 Neuqua Valley 4
St. Rita (12-2) junior Chris Delgadillo’s clutch two-RBI single in the bottom of the fifth led the Mustangs to victory on Saturday. Later in the inning, sophomore Shane Peisker pilfered home to give senior RHP Patrick Henry some insurance. Henry (3-0) went the distance, allowing one earned run and scattering 10 hits. Neuqua Valley (6-3) was led by John Michael-McMahon who drove home two runs for the Wildcats. St. Rita will host De La Salle (6-4; 1-0 White) in a Catholic League crossover game on Monday at 4:30.You can watch the game LIVE at www.prepbaseballreport.highschoolcube.com. Crown Point (IN) 3, No.7 Mount Carmel 2
Mount Carmel (9-2) fell to their guests from the Hoosier State at Haggerty Field on Saturday. University of Kansas-bound LHP Jeremy Kravetz (2-2) went the distance for the Caravan, allowing a lone earned run and six hits. Kravetz struck out six. University of Oregon-bound SS Jerry Houston was 2-for-2 and scored a run for MC.

No. 7 Mount Carmel 13, Chicago Washington 0
Mount Carmel (10-2) hammered Chicago Washington in five innings. Caravan RHP Eliot Chibe (1-0) fired a two-hit shutout at the Patriots. Seniors, Joe Kennedy and Beau Filkins each plated three runs for MC.

West Suburban Silver

Downers Grove North 6-2; No. 8 Lyons Township 3-3
In game one, Downers Grove North (6-2; 4-1) won the first game of this huge WSC-Silver twin-bill behind the booming bat of senior Dave Henson. Henson hammered a three-run bomb in the bottom of the fifth, to lift the Trojans to victory. Senior Troy Southard went the distance for the Trojans allowing one earned run and striking out three. St. Joseph’s College-bound RF Mike Lorenz, led Lyons Township (5-3; 1-1) with a triple and an RBI.

In game two, LT won a thriller behind a complete-game performance from University of Michigan-bound RHP Keith Lehmann (3-0). Lehmann allowed a pair of runs and struck out 10 Trojan hitters. Senior Tom Prescott drove home two huge Lions runs. SIU-bound Connor Kopach homered among his two hits and drove home both Trojan runs. The two clubs will square-off in Western Springs in the series rubber-match at 4:30 tomorrow.

Western Big 6

No. 14 Rock Island Alleman 6-6; Moline 4-3
The defending Class 2A State Champs opened up WB6 play with an impressive sweep over Moline. Rock Island Alleman (9-0; 2-0) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning of game one. Pioneer senior Tanner Ledezma’s two-run bomb highlighted the three-run Pioneer first.University of Illinois-bound RHP Cody Sedlock (3-0) and LHP Ledezma (3-0) picked up the wins on the mound for the Pioneers. Sedlock fanned seven and Ledezma had 10 punch-outs. Moline (5-4; 0-2) had homers from Maroon David Struble, a two-run shot, in the first game and senior SS Drew Owens, two run shot in game two.

Fox Valley Conference Crossovers

No. 13 Prairie Ridge 14, Woodstock North 4
Prairie Ridge (6-1; 2-0 Valley) crushed Woodstock North in five innings on Saturday. The Wolves pounded out 14 hits, in which three left the premises. Missouri-bound Jordan Getzelman, senior Mike Hallstrom and junior Joe Van Doorn all went deep for the Wolves.

Getzelman and Hallstrom each had three RBI. Van Doorn had two. Senior Matt Furst had a pair of doubles and drove home three Wolves runs. LHP Furst picked up the win on the mound, allowing a run in three innings of work. Senior Eric Jakuboski fired two scoreless innings in relief with two punch-outs.

No. 16 Huntley 12, Grayslake Central 0
Huntley (8-0; 2-0 Valley) crushed Grayslake Central 12-0 in five innings on Saturday. Nebraska-bound Bryce Only doubled three times and drove home four runs to lead the Red Raider attack. Junior Troy Cantu doubled and drove home three for Huntley. Junior RHP Eric Luecht fired a three-hit shutout with six punch-outs.

Jacobs 7, Johnsburg 3
Jacobs (7-1; 2-0 Valley) rolled past Johnsburg on Saturday in Algonquin. Jon Berndt doubled home a pair for the Golden Eagles. Danny Vandewalker chipped in with two hits and an RBI for Jacobs. RHP Riley Peltier (1-0) allowed one earned run in five innings while striking out seven to pick up the win. 

Crystal Lake South 13, Woodstock 0
Crystal Lake South (5-2; 2-0 Valley) crushed Woodstock in 4 ½ innings on Saturday. Senior Eric Schiller (1-0) fired a one-hitter at the Blue Streaks with eight strikeouts. Gator senior Jake Bigos had four hits, scored two runs and drove home a pair to lead the Gator attack. Senior Max Meitzler added two hits and drove home three for CLS.

Dundee-Crown 11, Crystal Lake Central 10
Dundee-Crown (4-2; 2-0 Valley) won a wild affair in Carpentersville on Saturday Charger junior Fabian Gutierrez had two singles and a double with four RBI to lead the D-C attack.

Nonconference

No. 6 Sandburg 5, Minooka 2 
Sandburg (7-0) broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the fifth, added a pair in the sixth and went on to defeat the Indians in Orland Park on Saturday. Julian Gutierrez hammered a solo shot for the Eagles. RHP Sean Leland (2-0) went the distance for the Eagles allowing two runs and seven hits.

No. 9 Naperville Central 11, Stevenson 1
Naperville Central (5-2) routed the Patriots in five innings in Naperville. RHP Jack Foote allowed one hit in his four scoreless innings to pick up the win. Jeff Lucas led the Redhawk attack with two hits and two RBI.

No. 11 Alton 13-17 Roxana 1-0
In game one, Alton (10-2) romped past Roxana in six innings in Roxana on Saturday. Senior LHP Brad Henry (3-0) allowed a run on five hits to pick up the win. Henry fanned eight. Redbird senior CF Ron Wisnasky continued his torrid hitting. Wisnasky, doubled, tripled and drove home five for Alton. Red-hot junior LF Nick Paulda had three more hits and drove home a pair of Redbird runs.

In game two, senior RHP Ray Baily (2-1) fired a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts. Baily’s battery-mate Indiana University-bound Brent Gibbs doubled twice and plated four Redbird runs. Wisnasky continued his assault on the baseball with three more hits, scored four runs and had 2 RBI. Wisnasky raised his BA to a whopping .553 with a bomb and 22 RBI. Paulda hammered a two-run bomb and Matt Halliday and Matt Hopkins each plated a pair for the Redbirds.

No.21 Pleasant Plains 9, West Central 1
Pleasant Plains (5-1-1) bounced back from its surprising 5-4 loss to IVC (5-7) on Friday, to roll past West Central in the Pleasant Plains Invitational on Saturday. Dylan Bee had two hits, including a double, scored three runs and drove home two to lead the Cardinal attack. Steve Rush was 2-for-2 with an RBI and Danny Hayes and Justin Yakel each plated a pair for PP.

Cardinal starting and winning pitcher RHP Chad Weller allowed a run, a hit and struck out five, in three innings of work. RHP TJ Steinwart fired four hitless innings in relief facing the minimum 12 batters.

No. 21 Pleasant Plains 14, Urbana 3
Pleasant Plains (6-1-1) hammered Urbana in the Cardinals second PP Invitational game on Saturday. Justin Yakel was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and had two RBI. Joey Szerletich chipped in with a pair of RBI. Yakel picked up the win on the mound for the Cardinals, too.

No. 24 Lockport 16, No. 4 St. Laurence 5
Lockport (7-2) crushed the 4th-ranked Viking 16-5, in five innings at Ed Flink Field in Lockport. Jeff Duschene went 5-for-5 with two doubles, scored one run and drove home six to single-handedly take care of St. Laurence. Purdue-bound Ted Snidanko had a single and a homer and drove home four, while Heartland Community College-bound C Derek Bangert also went deep and had three RBI. Senior 3B Doug Matthews hammered a solo shot, his second dinger of the year.

St. Laurence (7-3) lost for the second straight day, after losing in Florida on Friday. Viking senior 3B Zach Lewis doubled and homered to lead the Viking attack.

West Suburban Gold

Morton West 0-12, Willowbrook 10-7
Morton West (5-3; 4-1) came back to win the second game and stay in a first-place tie with Downers Grove South (8-3; 4-1) and Hinsdale South (7-2; 4-1) atop the WSC-Gold standings. In game one, Willowbrook romped past West in five innings behind a four-hit shutout by RHP Dave Cericola. Cericola fanned 10 in his masterpiece. Jake Cady led the Warriors with three singles, scored three runs and drove home a pair. Senior Cal Moltzan and junior Brian Johnson each had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI. Junior Tyler Vavrek was 3-for-3 with an RBI.

In game two, Trailing 7-3 in the top of the fifth, Morton exploded for five runs to take the lead the Mustangs would never relinquish. Sophomore Sergio Villalobos led the Mustang come-back with two hits, including an RBI triple, scored two runs and plated four for West. Willowbrook (3-5; 1-4) was led by Cal Moltzan who singled, tripled and drove home two runs. 

Nonconference

Hersey 14, No. 23 Simeon 9
Hersey (2-3) outslugged Simeon 14-9 in Arlington Heights on Saturday. Hersey’s Ryan Rogers singled and homered. Eric Labahn had a single and three RBI while C CJ Reichel had a perfect 2-for-2 day, scored two runs and drove one home. Simeon (4-3) was led by EIU-bound SS Marshawn Taylor, who had two hits and two RBI to lead the Wolverines.

No. 15 Ottawa 6, Sycamore 1
Ottawa (6-2) defeated Sycamore in a Northern Illinois Big 12 crossover on Saturday. Pirate RHP Alex Miller fired a three-hitter with four strikeouts against the Spartans. Colton Trager singled, doubled and plated a pair of Pirate runs. University of Illinois-bound CF Mike Hermosillo and Tabor Griglione each had two hits and drove home a run.

No. 22 Harrisburg 12, Urbana 0
In the Pleasant Plains Invitational on Saturday, University of Illinois-bound RHP Ryne Roper (5-0) was at it again. Roper fired a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts and homered and drove in three to lead the Bulldogs past Urbana in five innings. Matt Phelps chipped in with two doubles and three RBI for Harrisburg (11-2).

Normal West 11, O’ Fallon 6
Normal West (9-3) had a stellar emergency relief performance by sophomore Reid Birlingmair. Birlingmair (1-0) relieved injured Wildcat starter senior Nick Hieb, who was struck by a line drive in the fifth. Birlingmair shut the door on the Panther threat in the fifth and went on to fire three scoreless innings in relief of Hieb to pick up his first varsity win. Birlingmair had a single and a double at the plate.

Caleb Smith led the Wildcat attack with two hits and three RBI. WIU-bound Adam McGinnis had two RBI and University of Illinois-bound Matthew James had a perfect 3-for-3. Missouri State-bound Alex Jefferson added a pair of hits and an RBI and Jake Evans chipped in with two hits and two runs scored.

Wheaton North 12, Lemont 9
Wheaton North (7-1) pounded out 16 hits and outlasted Lemont in a slugfest in Wheaton on Saturday. Red-hot Lake Bachar had three hits including two doubles and drove home four Falcon runs. Glen Scandora had four hits, including a double and drove home two. John Peltz had three hits including a homer and drove home two.

Libertyville 11, Hoffman Estates 1
Libertyville (6-1-1) crushed Hoffman Estates in six innings on Saturday. As in the Wildcats 11-1 win over Maine South on Thursday, the ‘Cats had a big fifth inning, scoring seven times against another group of Hawks. Junior C Evan Skoug led the Wildcat attack by falling a double shy of hitting for the cycle. Skoug plated five Libertyville runs. Ken Calamari had a perfect day too for the Wildcats with a 3-for-3 game, with two RBI. RHP Jason Buss allowed no earned runs and two hits to pick up the win.

Glenbrook South 11, St. Patrick 1
Glenbrook South (7-1) hammered out 17 hits and 11 runs, to roll past St. Pat’s in five innings on Saturday. Max Cohn led the Titan attack with two singles and two doubles and drove home four Titan runs. Kyle Pauly singled and went deep for the Titans and had four RBI. RHP Mike Lenckos fired a six-hitter at the Shamrocks allowing one run.

Lincoln-Way East 15, Oak Forest 5
Lincoln-Way East (5-1) pounded out 21 hits on Saturday, in this five-inning contest in Oak Forest. Evan Sandman continued his torrid hitting, with three hits and drove home four Griffin runs. Griffin leadoff man Aaron Donald was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Chad Prieto was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Jack Dwyer had three hits and drove in two runs.

Metamora 18, Peoria Notre Dame 6
Metamora (8-3) crushed Peoria Notre Dame behind the red-hot bat of Alec Skender. Skender hammered two bombs among his 4-4 day at the plate. Skender scored four runs and drove in four for the ‘Birds. Bradley University-bound Spencer Gaa plated five Redbird runs with a single and a triple.

Cary-Grove 3, Burlington Central 1
Cary-Grove (7-2) defeated Burlington Central on Saturday behind Trojan RHP Andrew Splitt who fired a five-hitter at the Rockets with 11 strikeouts. Zach Marszal was 1-for-2 with an RBI to lead the Trojan attack.

Aurora Central Catholic 11, Salt Fork 5
The red-hot Chargers rolled past Salt Fork in their second game at the Tuscola Invitational in downstate Tuscola on Saturday. Aurora Central Catholic (7-1) pounded out 15 hits, led by Matt Rahn’s three-hit performance. Heartland Community College-bound Matt Miller and Jack McCarthy both went deep for the Chargers. Ian Klespitz (1-0) picked up the win with four solid innings on the mound. Klespitz fanned three.

Mahomet-Seymour 19-4, Champaign Centennial 18-7
Mahomet-Seymour (8-3) outslugged the Chargers in game one, led by Bulldog Cully Day’s four hit, five RBI performance. One of Day’s hits left the premises in Mahomet. Jack Rettig chipped in with five hits and two RBI. Francisco Tyler homered and drove in three for MS. In game two, Day had one hit and one RBI for the Bulldogs.

Grant 6-15, Wilmot (WI) 3-5
Grant (6-2) swept away its Badger State guests on Saturday in Fox Lake. In game one Jeremy Cokefair improved to 2-0 on the season allowing one earned run in his solid 6 1/3 innings of work on the mound. Bulldog closer Jason Trumpis put the Wilmot uprising in the seventh to pick up the save. Simeon Lucas and Ryan Noda each singled and drove home a run for Grant. In game two, Missouri-bound Jake Ring had quite a game. The future Tiger, singled, doubled, scored four runs and drove four. Lucas hammered a two-run bomb and Noda had a perfect 3-for-3 game with a triple and an RBI.

Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 6, Edwardsville 4
Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin (6-2) scored five times in the bottom of the fifth to erase a 2-0 Edwardsville lead and went on to dump the Tigers on Saturday. Cyclone junior C Mitch Trees doubled home a pair for SHG. Senior David Jacob doubled, singled and drove home a run for the Cyclones. Senior RHP Connor Creasy allowed one earned run in six innings to pick up the win. Edwardsville falls to 4-4

Benton 12, East Central 5
Benton (8-4) rolled past East Central at Benton City Park on Saturday. The Rangers were led by Ethan Hughes and Martin Ward. Hughes had two hits and plated four Ranger runs. Ward added three hits and two RBI.

Benton 11, South Central 8
Benton (9-4) outslugged Farina South Central behind the booming bat and arm of Nathaniel Higgins. Higgins allowed three runs in his four innings of work on the mound to pick up the win. Higgins helped himself at the plate with a homer and five RBI. Ethan Hughes added a bomb that left the premises at Benton City Park.

Danville 6, St. Joseph-Ogden 0
Danville (6-3) blanked St. Joseph-Ogden on Saturday behind a seven-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts by Chase Thurston (2-0). Southern Mississippi-bound C Chucky Robinson took care of the Viking offense. The future Golden Eagle, fell a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. Thurston helped himself at the plate driving in a pair of Viking runs.

St. Francis 5, West Aurora 4
St. Francis (4-5) scored one in the fifth, two in the sixth and then won it in the bottom of the seventh to give West Aurora its first loss of the season. Senior Alex Alcantar had a pair of singles and drove home two big Spartan runs. Senior Tim Zettinger was 3-for-3 with an RBI.  West Aurora (6-1) was led by senior 2B Adam Lipscomb, who had a pair of doubles and drove home two Black Hawk runs.

Aurora Christian 11, Ottawa Marquette 10
Aurora Christian (4-4) outslugged Marquette in a wild one in Elgin on Saturday. Ian Livingston and drew Wagner each had three hits and two RBI to lead the Eagles.

Aurora Christian 7, Westminster Christian 5
Aurora Christian (5-4) defeated the host school of the triangular in Elgin on Saturday. P.J. Cole went deep and drove home three Eagle runs. Senior J.T Baksha chipped in with a pair of hits for AC. RHP R.D. Lutz (1-1) allowed no earned runs in five innings, with seven strikeouts to pick up the win.

Plainfield South 5, Normal Community 4
Plainfield South (6-2) won a thriller over Normal Community in the Lincoln-Way Central Invitational Championship Game on Saturday in New Lenox. Cougar Marco Meigoza’s walk off two-run double gave Plainfield South the championship

Normal Community 7, Richards 5
Normal Community (5-5) rallied to tie the game with two runs in the top of the seventh and then won it in the eighth. Ironman Randy Heideman’s clutch two-RBI single tied it in the seventh and then Kris Carter won it in the eighth.

Lisle 11, Timothy Christian 8
Lisle (3-3-1) outslugged Timothy Christian in Elmhurst on Saturday. The Lions could only muster seven hits against the Trojans. Senior Alex Ventrella and junior C Kevin Coppin led the Lion attack with two hits. Ventrella scored three runs. Coppin doubled, scored two runs, and drove one in. Senior Ryan VanVolkenberg scored four runs and was 1-for-1 at the plate. Junior Jake Oard had a double and an RBI for the Lions. 

Aurora Central Catholic 11, Salt Fork 5
The red-hot Chargers rolled past Salt Fork in their second game at the Tuscola Invitational in downstate Tuscola on Saturday. Niles Notre Dame 3, Lake Zurich 2
Notre Dame (3-6) won for the third consecutive time, defeating Lake Zurich in Niles on Saturday. Don RHP Ryan Bergstrom allowed two runs and five hits to pick up the win. Don closer Sam Ferri shut the door on the Bears in the seventh to pick up the save.
