Over the next couple weeks we are going to countdown the 2014 calendar year with a look at the top ten viewed player profiles of 2014. After drilling down into our google analytics we have compiled a list of the ten most visited profiles by you the reader in 2014.

No. 4 Cal Coughlin

Cal CoughlinComing in at No. 4 on our list is Lake Forest 3B/RHP Cal Coughlin with 8,327 page views during 2014. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound switch-hitter has impressed defensively, at the plate, and on the mound already during his young high school career.

Coughlin is currently ranked No. 6 in Illinois’ 2016 class, No. 18 overall, and most recently has increased his speed, running a 6.80 60-yard dash at a winter college camp. Coughlin is one of the highest ranked uncommitted 2016’s in PBR’s coverage area.

The former Carmel HS (Mundelein) football/baseball standout transferred to Lake Forest High School over the summer to continue his high school career.

Coughlin made headlines at last spring’s Preseason All-State Showcase, touching 92 mph on the mound. Most recently is power bat was on display at the PBR Future Games in early August. Here’s a look at Coughlin’s scouting report from the event:

Cal Coughlin Scouting Report

Lake Forest High School’s Cal Coughlin put on debatably the top batting practice display of the day, from both sides of the plate to boot.  Coughlin left the yard right-handed to deep left field, producing 96 mph exit velocity from the right side of the plate.  From the left side he showed more loft in his swing, hitting two homers down the right field line, with exit velocity up to 92 mph.   He shows an advanced approach at the plate from both sides, slightly more spread out from the left.  Coughlin also showed soft hands defensively at third base, and threw 86 mph across the diamond.
