Prospect's Landwehr picks school, and other news

Few players in the state enjoyed a more impressive spring season than Jack Landwehr from Prospect HS. The two-way standout named his school over the weekend, committing to Illinois State University.

Landwehr earned first-team Prep Baseball Report All-State honors after he led Prospect to third place in Class 4A, the school’s first state trophy in baseball. Landwehr did it all for the Knights, including going 14-2 on the mound with a 2.38 ERA. In 85.1 innings, Landwehr struck out 114 and walked only 11 batters. Landwehr came up big in the playoffs, earning big wins on the mound, including a 2-1 complete-game victory in the third-place game against Mt. Carmel.

At the plate, Landwehr batted .443 with 14 doubles, 3 home runs and 45 RBI. Landwehr, who struck out only 8 times in 122 at-bats, is also a top-level defensive third baseman.

In other recruiting news, Jacob Hendren, a LHP from Normal University HS, has committed to Heartland CC. Earlier last week, Jared Hendren, Jacob’s twin, has committed to Heartland CC.
